I prefer the George Lucas Special Edition version of the trailer. His lightsaber is much more realistic.

Wait, people didn't understand that it was supposed to be a cross guard?

A cross guard doesn't work if it can cut you.

There is also no reason for a cross guard to exist in the Star Wars universe.

You're right. It's not like anyone has ever lost a hand in a light saber duel.

That's not he issue people are taking with it. It's that the metal casing in between the main beam and the cross guard beams would be easy to cut through rendering it pointless.

Colbert has weighed in.

Starts about halfway through this clip.

I can't wait until the crossguard is put to practical use at some point in the trilogy. Nerds' faces are going to melt.

Am I the only one who thought of this guy while watching the trailer?

The people who lost their hands in Star Wars would still have lost their hands. Luke had his hand cut off at the wrist as it is raised high into the air. Vader got his hand cut off as his arm is stretched out. Hilt wouldn't have stopped a thing.

No $hit - that is Tim Russ, Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager. Also considered for the part of Geordi La Forge in TNG.

I hope you're trolling because if you have critical thinking skills this poor then I fear for the gene pool.

how is the Jedi order sustainable if Jedis cannot get married or have kids? not supposed to anyway. that means the bloodline of anyone with amazing gifts always ends with that person. then you hope that people just keep randomly popping up with talent with the force. if you display skills with the force, do you HAVE to be a jedi or sith? are there people out there with force capabilities that said frick joining one side?

Anakin was born without a father. So theoretically the force can and has produced life randomly.

And whether one becomes a sith or a Jedi has to do with ones will power and if they are emotionally unstable. Remember that Vader and count dooku were both Jedi before turning to the dark side.

I thought when shimi says "there was no father," she meant either the guy was a dead beat who knocked shimi up and left or that wattoo passed her around to his friends. I in no way understood it that she got knocked up by the force.

Whenever qui-gon asks her about anakins father after he finds out how powerful the force is within anakin, she says there was no father. Meaning that she did indeed get knocked up by the force Virgin Mary style.
