I do wish they would leave the humor to the droids.

JUst got out. That was not good. Had some gorgeous scenes and some cool action, but wow what a bad movie.

understand they want humor. I do too, but Poe doing the prank call on the commander of the First Order’s fleet in the first scene really made me cringe. Then Luke threw the saber behind his back. I feel like there should have been some sound effects like “whump, whump, waaaaahhh”. Name one baddie from the original trilogy that was a walking punchline. They had laughs but they were serious movies. This movie went from prank calls, to teaching us about the toxicity of a vendetta, to having Finn try and sacrifice himself because of a bloodlust TWO times in 30 minutes. Once with Fasma and the other with the door knocker.

Legit critisms. They should not try to use the comic book MCU formula on Star Wars. I agree the Hux thing was stupid. empire was so good because it had really bad guys and heavy philosophy built into it. Star Wars are not comic book movies.

I enjoyed it. I think it comes from me accepting that we have to move on from the old star wars. That magic is its own and it is up to Disney to recapture it not sure if they can.

The part that upsets me is that there is a good movie in there. There really is.

Stop making the bad guys (except Kylo) into idiots. I liked the entire Luke story until we find out he never left the island and he dies of the same thing Pademe did in Revenge of the Sith.

Akbar should have went out like a boss but that’s a nitpick.

Luke and Rey on the island seemed a little disjointed. Looks like there was some heavy editing in post. But liked that story. Rey and Kylo. LOVED THAT.

Kind of liked the rebel fleet being pinned down 75% of the movie.

There is a good movie in there. Maybe even a great one.

That is not possible. Star Wars needs a new hero for each generation. I am 46, Luke was my hero. My 11 year old loves Rey. She is his hero he will remember. Rey is the hero of this story. It is not how I would have had Luke go out, but he went out more as a Jedi Master than a Jedi Knight in the style of the original trilogy, that I did like.

During the Q&A, Johnson also pointed out a slight flaw with the vanishing scene. “We were in the other room saying, ‘A steel hand should clunk to the ground.’”

Hamill dealt with the news of his character’s demise in stages of grief. You already heard him express denial. Originally, the actor reacted with bargaining. “The first thing I said was, ‘Can’t you wait and do this in Episode IX?’”

But Johnson said it was necessary to keep the focus on the new characters as the trilogy reached its end. (J.J. Abrams will return to make the next installment, set for release in 2019.)

Saw it this morning.
If not for jar jar, this would be the worst of the franchise.
I was concerned about the SJW stuff I expected, but that was the least of this movie’s problems

They could’ve coasted through the episode without any effort and made a better product.
Snoke’s backstory? Nah...
Rey’s parents? Low lifes...
Starship on cruise control , can’t be caught if we don’t go into hyperdrive...
8 or so escape pods going to planet? We’ll focus all the attention of this massive destroyer on it, instead of sending one of the 4 other destroyers after them. WAIT! WAIT! She’s turning the starship around at us! We can turn our canons on her in less time than it takes for her to turn. She has shields up on the rear too!?!?
Snoke can see Kylo’s intentions? But can’t sense him using the force to turn the saber on him?

Such a bad movie.

After BB-8 being Jar Jar levels of annoying, I’m not so sure about that.

That was such a cool exchange and Yoda teaches him the final lesson. So cool.

It's sad that Luke even needed the lesson when it should have been obvious to him. His pupil turned on him and wiped out 12 Jedi. Big deal. Yoda's pupil turned on him and wiped out thousands. He didn't think any less of Yoda because of it so why did he hold himself to a different standard?

So dissapointed Finn didn't finish his suicide attack on the blaster canon.

Because good people are always harder on themselves than their friends and mentors. Luke lost perspective, Yoda just stated the obvious which is hard to see in yourself sometimes. That was a very human situation.

If Rian was so insistant on having Canto Bight to show another planet and aliens, he could have at least cut out the part where they get arrested and break out. I feel like that whole arc was just a way to lead Phasma to Finn.

No, because if you cut that, then you can’t lecture the audience about animal rights.

Luke's arc was disappointing on so many levels. Yoda and Obi-Wan were all for killing Anakin when he turned. Luke was a better Jedi for refusing to do so and found another way...a better way. That's what made him unique and set him apart from the Republic era of Jedi.

Luke's Jedi Order would succeed where the past generations failed. Flash forward to TLJ and all of that is erased. Ryan claims to be a huge Star Wars fan but it's clear he doesn't get what made the originals so special.
