I dunno. Clone Wars, Rebels, and Lego Star Wars did a lot to bring the next generation along. The films blew it.

They can't in Disney World. Universal owns the rights to Marvel characters. They are making Avengers stuff in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

The current wait time for the brand new Millennium Falcon ride is 40 minutes. By comparison, the wait time for the years old Seven Dwarfs ride is 70 minutes.
But, I do believe people are waiting for the rest of the Star Wars land to open before going there.

I've talked to a bunch of people that have gone to Star Wars land and they all talk about how long the lines are and how packed it is and how awesome it was.
We went to Disneyworld a couple of weeks ago. We got up at 5 a.m. to get to Galaxy's Edge for when it opened at 6 a.m. There was a 30-40 minute wait that early in the morning. The cantina was jam packed by mid afternoon and people were buying all kinds of stuff - droids, light sabers, little creatures. The setup was pretty impressive. I thought the ride was OK, the Pandora rides in the Avatar area were better. But the Star Wars area was a better immersive experience. I'm 48 years old, so it was worth the trip to see the Millennium Falcon. We saw A LOT of people wearing Star Wars gear during our week there. There were probably more people wearing T-shirts, hats and gear related to animated Disney/Pixar properties, but Star Wars was a close second. And it was stuff from the original trilogy, the new movies and Clone Wars, with a little bit of Darth Maul stuff. There were a few little girls dressed as Rey or wearing Rey T-shirts.

I think she has quite a bit to do with Disney Park issue because part of the reason Disney bought Star Wars was the Movie, Merch, Park tie ins. When you kill the enthusiasm of the movie, the other 2 parts will decline.
That's in your head. Do some research on the issues with the roll out of the parks. There's plenty of articles about it.
The majority of normal fans are very excited to go. The announcement of guest limits, park costs, hotel's in California jacking up their rates in anticipation of the opening, etc.. were mostly attributable to the lower than expected 1st year performance.
If Disney World and Disney Land swapped their opening dates, this may not have been an issue.

Not sure what you mean about it being in my head.
Enthusiasm surrounding the parks is enormous.
Seaworld's attendance cratered after the Black Fish controversy. It is finally returning to previous levels.
There is a reason why Avatar was incorporated into Disney shortly after the movie and why the next movies will again have huge theme park tie-ins.
Yeah and considering I live in Orlando, there are articles every day about the theme parks so there is a constant stream of research in the paper.
Entertainment companies are no longer monolithic. They vertically integrate all options to generate the most money from their IP.

Disneyland fricked themselves more than anything. They all expected this huge tourist crowd, but that just didn't materialize because there wasn't interest in going there in comparison to WDW. They blacked out their normal base, the locals, and screwed themselves there. Then when they removed the black out, it still didn't recover because the locals just don't have interest in it. They rather the more traditional Disney stuff.
Swapping dates wouldn't of saved anything. This was a multitude of issues.

Probably the biggest part of the Star Wars brand since the prequels released, at least for kids anyway. I had friends with young boys who loved that stuff.

They would have to pay me to see the next movie in theaters. I'll wait for it to come out on Disney+, if I watch it at all.

Disney previously had a Star Wars attraction and it was the shittiest ride they've ever had not long ago for the MGM park. It was a dime-a-dozen arcade-level simulator ride that makes the seat move in the direction that the action on the (small) screen dictated. Completely wasting a great brand name on a shitty attraction, meanwhile Twilight Zone (Tower of Terror) and Aerosmith (Rock n Rollercoaster) were tied to magnificent rides.
With Galaxy's Edge, being nothing but Star Wars, I thought they'd have a ton of great SW rides this time around and finally get it right.
Instead, there's only one ride, (another simulator ride but more immersive than the MGM ride), build-a-light-sabre or R2D2 workshop that costs about $100 extra above the park ticket, a bunch of star wars gift stores, a Millenium Falcon replica, and a Cantina to eat gourmet alien appetizers in. They shite the bed again and somebody deserved to be fired.

They still have another ride to open. The Rise of the Resistance ride is suppose to be a step forward in tech for slow moving ride vehicle style rides.
Was supposed to open at the end of the year in WDW, but it will probably be delayed.

From what I have seen, and I say this with the caveat of I have not been there, the Star War's Galaxy Edge (whoever came up with title most have played the old MMO) is actually pretty darn neat.
They put a ton of attention and detail into the project, they even went to great lengths to put the right crew in the park (they only took the best cast members who loved Star Wars and everyone is encouraged to come up with a detailed back story for your "character" even if you are just selling sodas.).
It is extremely, impressively so, immersive.
Yet it sort of got caught in the backlash against Star Wars after the TLJ fiasco.
Now, for the record, I'm not about to go into all the details about that but one facet of the TLJ fallout was they were very dismissive towards die hard Star Wars fans. Which wasn't a great thing for the parks because that is built for... die hard Star Wars fans.
Had all this not happened Star Wars fans would be packing the place like sardines. In fact, now that the bad taste of TLJ has faded a bit, they are starting to turn out. But someone needed to take the blame.
Powell was an odd choice to head up the Parks in the first place; she's British and did most of her work in Australia and Europe before getting the big gig. I suspect someone with a bit more experience in the "big leagues" of running the parks will get the billet next.

I took my family to Universal a couple of years ago. Not one of us had seen a Harry Potter movie before.
We also spent almost the entire day there. They really did a great job with that.

Everyone else that didn’t step in and tell her it might be a bad idea that hardly anything from the OT is in Galaxy’s Edge also deserves to be fired.

I’m here with the family right now.
Star Wars GE is massive and very immersive. It’s quite amazing. Issue is that no one gives a shite about the new trilogy and such. I just think it kind of missed it’s window.
I rode the new ride with my 4 year old. It was a fine ride. Nothing special but still pretty cool to be a part of.
Also with line times one thing that helps it is that since there are no fast passes yet that’s not slowly up the normal line. If there are fast passes then the lines would easily be over an hour.
