A LOT less action packed and more slow than I expected, but it is still a very good flick IMO with pretty good and witty diagloue in most cases and lots of subtle old school references to make the old fans feel all warm inside.

My one main complaint is that the third trailer gives a little too much away once you get in the story. And the car chase scene depicted in most of the trailers would have been left better off on the cuttng room floor.

Not sure how much cash it is going to make though, may be a little too much plot driven to garner a lot of repeat viewings.

Interesting. Most complaints have been about it being too action packed.

Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of action to go around and sometimes it is so intense that it is hard to follow.

But it doesn't really hop from action scene to action scene like dark knight did leaving the audiene in a non stop thrill ride....it just feels more methotical to me somehow.

I think you are nuts. The first hour seemed like an adrenaline rush. I was on the edge of my seat through many of the action sequences.

I think most Trek fans will eat this up except the canon nerds that get pissed if a medal is not placed in the right spot.

Is it perfect? No, but I don't think any Trek film has been perfect. As a whole, I like this better than Khan. Khan had a much more emotional moment, but overall, this film kicked arse. The chicks were hot. I want an Orion Slave girl.

The audience I saw it with, laughed, cheered and clapped throughout the whole movie. The IMAX experience was great.

Can't wait for the next installment.

I never see movies at the theater more than once and I am almost certain to see this one again, but I admit I am so happy to have Trek back, I am biased.

Bold statement my friend. I guess I have to see this in a theater.

Thumbs up. Definitely will see it again.

A bunch of people stuck around waiting to see if there was anything extra after the credits - there wasn't.

I like Khan as much as the next guy, but I think Spock dying made the impact of the movie so strong. That was of course mutilated by Search For.

Once again, Khan still wins for emotional impact, but I laughed way more in Trek and the action sequences were of the charts.

I am not saying everyone will like Trek better than Khan, but I did.

Only complaint is the shaky Abrams cam.

I get it, they're in space. You don't have to go handheld the entire time to make your point.

My main beef was the accent. Hopefully in the next movie they dial it down a little bit or maybe don't give chekov so many lines.

I didn't mind. I'm just glad that they resisted the temptation to make the "What the hell is a Wulcan?" joke.

With the universal translators, shouldn't everyone be hearing perfect English when he speaks?

It had its entertaining parts... but overall it was just dumb. It was super campy, the plot was weak, nimoy mailed in his performance, they didn't develop the antagonist's character, a lot of the plot elements didn't make sense or were not consistent throughout the movie... ugh... too much to type. It was just shallow and campy, like something written by a 13 year old.

Agreed, and I am one of those canon nerds that went into this expecting it to be horrible and even wanting it to be. I'd still probably put it in my top3, but no way I can put it at 1 right now. Of course this SUPER HUGE Trek nerd friend of mine has it as his #1 and I can't believe it

Amazing how a dumb and campy movie is getting positive reviews from across the nation. Must be commonplace for a dumb campy movie to get close to universe praise.

The movie has quite a few flaws, but there are few to no things it does that are outright bad, making it as solid of a popcorn flick as we've seen in decades, outside of The Dark Knight. That's why it is getting tons of positive praise.

I felt that it was the perfect way to rejuvenate a franchise and bring it to a completely new generation of fans.

IMO, the best Trek since Khan.

All I have to say is it was quite apparent the audience as a whole loved it. Plenty of clapping, laughing and cheering at the end.

Still 95% at rottentomatoes.

I hope Chris Pine does not get the Green Lantern gig because that could slow down production of the next Trek Film.

wow that is a very sad commentary on the average movie goer in this country.

Not that i disagree with you, but it is a shame that people think that actually having a plot instead of just non stop shite blowing up hurts movies

SPOILERS

You see, that kinda goes with showing too much because of the trailer. The opening scene really didn't do much for me because I already knew he was doing to die in a self sacrificing way. And then they didn't even find a creative way of doing it. Then because when the hearing was disrupted by he distress call to Vulcan, I knew it was doing to be blown up. Maybe that is why it seemed a little slow for me, I had to keep waiting for it to get to something major that I didn't already know.

That said, having thought about it, I got 2 questions;

So when did Romulan planet blow up? Spock was still alive so it couldn't have been that far in the future, and yet Nemesis involved their planet.

What was the connection with the Klingons...why was there an attack before both major events (where Kirk's dad died and when they blew up Vulcan).

SPOILERS

And while we are at it, what about the whole warping to Saturn to hide and then teleporting on the Romulan ship as they pass.

The Romulan ship is shown to already be at earth by the time Enterprise arrives at Saturn.

Did I miss something?

Well first, everything has changed. They say that once they realize Nero is from the future. "Alternate reality, destinies changed, etc etc"

But for the record, Romulus blows up after Nemesis.
