Surprised nobody here has said Red Dawn (1984). It stirs the emotions as much as anything not named Rocky IV.

I do like the pick of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.


For negative thinking types, All the President's Men (1976), Wag the Dog (1997) and Primary Colors (1998) are good choices.

For the real haters, anything Michael Moore touched is perfect.
