It's amazing that Sony can get this movie made and do a great job, but butcher everything else Marvel-related. Why?

A movie about black Spiderman is gonna get a rating bump from critics. That's not to say its bad, but you know the rating is gonna be inflated.

They're 3 and 3 with Spider-verse movies (not counting Homecoming). This movie will put them at 4 and 3.

Might want to see the movie before you start throwing that particular race card. 100% doesn't mean that every critic thought it was perfect. Means they all gave it a thumbs-up.

Well it is certainly making an aggressive campaign for it.
You will probably be shocked to learn that The Hangover and Transformers: Age of Extinction even campaigned for the category. Any film that campaigns for it is technically considered for Best Picture nomination.

Regardless of its box office, Venom wasn’t good. It had some moments, but it was pretty blah.

It's almost certain to get a nomination. Publications such as THR, Variety and several others have pushed for a nomination.

Miles Morales was actually in the comics. The other diversity spider people in the movie is just pandering. It's a cash grab soaked in social justice lecturing.

The average movie going public doesn't know who Miles Morales is. The fact that he's in the comic is irrelevant. Sony is making this because they can't use Peter Parker. The general public will see this as black Spiderman.
