I started watching Alchemy of Souls last night. It's cheesy but I'm loving it after 5 episodes.
It was hard to keep watching after episode 1. I think cheesy is exactly how I described it. It’s definitely in my favorites though.
I just added When the Camellia Blooms to my watchlist.

Has anyone started season 2 of Alchemy of Souls?
I started it
It’s much more serious, more k-drama with more action and they kinda commit to the ending of season 1 in a lot of ways
It will take 2 episodes to start growing on you because it is so different, but I am starting to enjoy it a lot in episode 3.
Jang Uk is tGOAT

New Korean fantasy show on Amazon Prime called Island. The elevator pitch is take Buffy and Blade with demons instead of vampires and lose the scooby gang. There's a young lady chosen one that's destined to stop evil from overtaking the world via some hellmouth on Jeju Island. This evil comes in the form of demons that possess people and turn them into stony killing machines that can only be killed by a special guy with a special knife. There also is a young Korean priest/exorcist prodigy and some church involvement supporting the fight against evil.
Only 2 episodes out so far with more coming each week but it kept my attention better than several of the fanatasy shows I've tried on Netflix. It should definitely be of interest to people in this thread.

Thanks for the recommendation, will eventually check it out.
Since I am here, I am now further along (I think episode 6) of Alchemy of Souls Pt. 2 and I am really enjoying it
It is different though. The first season was a true Hero’s journey. This season is more like Pride and Prejudice meets Chances Are meets Star Wars: Jedi Academy

Alchemy of Souls Bulgasal Memories of Alhambra (Romance very similar to Pride and Prejudice) Sisyphus My Country Crash Landing on You
I don’t want to Google too much because of spoilers but is Bulgasal full of horror and/or zombies? I’m not really into anything heavy with either and what I’ve seen of the first episode made me think it may be headed in that direction.

Not really. The first episode is basically the initial backstory to understand the main character and his motivations
It’s REALLY good and is a true k-drama past the first episode. It’s shot really really well and packs huge emotional punches.
I one-hundred percent recommend it. The emotional investment builds and sneaks up on you.

I also finished Alchemy of Souls season 2
After seeing the whole season (bit rushed at the end) I understand the choices they made with casting. The ending was great and, IMO, could justify a S3 with the world building they’ve established. Lotta directions the show could take.

I’m a few episodes in. I like it so far, got pulled away by Alchemy and Yellowstone.
I’ll have to update the OP on those we all agree are great.

I just watched and it’s absolutely a top show. I didn’t want it to end.

The wife and I watched Little Women recently and it was pretty good. On the surface it may look more like a chick show, but it was a well done thriller with some good characters, plot twists and surprises.

I’m reviving this thread to recommend Misaeng (An Incomplete Life) because it’s leaving Netflix on September 30th. I haven’t finished it yet but it is a top show for me so far and was highly recommended with great reviews.

Was an amazing show! Cutthroat Korean work environment shows always reel me in.
Just finished Sky Castle. Another amazing show focused on the pressures of Korean high schoolers and the lengths they and their parents go thru in attempting to get them into prestigious universities.
Give Mask Girl a try. Quirky, strange, ‘revenge’ type show.

Was unsure about it going in but really enjoyed the hell out of it. Only 8 episodes long but what a punch it provides!

Hopefully not shite question...Do you guys watch these with English dub or native language with subtitles?

Subtitles. Dubbing doesn’t have the emotion and Koreans are great actors. I slowed the playback speed at first, especially with modern shows. Historical dramas often have slower scenes and dialogue and there are some great ones to watch. That’s mostly what I watched in the beginning.
