Synopsis is really weird. Won't see in the theater.

Why would you see any movie in the theater that you read the synopsis on beforehand?

But how is this movie not getting backlash with an African American being voiced by a white mans voice (shout out to Tobias Fünke). If the cultures were swapped it would be called a super racist film.

1.) Why are you looking to be offended here? Or looking for other people to be offended?

2.)

Because my friend said it was really weird and he's pretty weird, so that set off alarm bells.

After reading it, I'm thrilled I didn't pay money for that.

Why is weird a bad thing? Wish more movies thatvtook chances like this one would get made instead 4000 remakes and sequels

Was a great movie, you’re missing out on a hell of an experience

Yep, because all movies play out exactly as they come across on paper...

One could read the synopsis for Requiem for a Dream before hand and still have no clue what they were in for when watching the movie

But idk why people read the synopsis anyway before seeing something

Why does it matter if I think it's dumb? It shouldn't bother you. People like different things.

Because you thinks it’s dumb before even watching the movie based on the synopsis. That’s silly.

This may be the dumbest statement I’ve ever read on this board.

Fell flat for me. Even with the huge twist it was very predictable.

After watching the trailer I thought it would be funnier. It was about what I expected just not quite as funny.

Except for the twist. I knew they were up to something but wasn't expecting that.

Saw it today. It was good and I enjoyed it but something was missing. It just didn’t resonate with me, what it was trying to say. Still worth seeing though.

Just bc I started a post earlier wo knowing this one existed.
Saw it Friday and it was exactly what I thought. Told my wife going in we’d leave saying “wtf did we just watch”. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t good but it’s different. I’m glad I saw it spoiler free.

I just watched it. I loved the first hour and 20 minutes or so. The twist at the CEO's house party (that is pretty damn non-spoilery) is probably where the director lost about half the audience. And then in the final 10 minutes or so, I would say the director also lost me to an extent.

Now I loved a good portion of the movie. I would say the twist happens around the 85th minute of a 105 minute movie. Overall, I'd probably give it a 7.5/10. With a smoother ending, it could have been a top 10 movie of the year. Very clever, takes a lot of risks, great allegory throughout, and some really good humor at times. I also loved the references it made to Silicon Valley culture.

Is there a spoiler version of this thread?
