I'm curious who else thought the show was absolutely hilarious.. I wasn't expecting to laugh as much as I did, but the writing was so good at so many points and the characters are so absurd
The more times you watch, you realize that it actually is a comedy.
First watch is like hell yeah, mob shite, drugs, and tits everywhere.
The fifth watch, you’re like is Junior Soprano the funniest character in tv history?

Psychiatry and cunnilingus got them to that point.

Paulie is in the conversation too. The bit where he tries to shake down a Starbucks for protection money and a bored 25-year-old manager blows him off, so he ends up stealing some shite....

Man, you're all fricked up.
Patsy Parisi tries to shake down the coffee shop manager for protection money, but the manager says something to the effect that the shop is a chain and he has no say so in matters.
Paulie did steal from a different coffee shop when he and big Pussy were looking for the queers that stole the Saturn. Paulie was pissed that the coffee shop was getting rich off of selling coffee because he thought they stole the idea from the Italians.

Again with the rape of the culture
I’ve watched through 7-8 times now. It’s amazing how your perspective changes.

I love threads like this. It makes me reflect back on the characters, scenes, and just the show in general. There's no show that has or will ever compare to The Sopranos.

He never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Paulie in Italy being grossed out by the legit Italian cuisine and thinking he was going to connect with the old country is a top 5 moment for me with the show

Loved it when he was at the little outdoor diner in Italy and he greeted the Italian (that was actually David Chase) with that little espresso cup. The guy never said shite to Paulie, but looked disgusted at Paulie.
Paulie replied under his breath “cock sucker.” I love Paulie.

I’m gonna hoof it back to the Excelsior. I’ve gotta take a wicked shite.

I’ve never seen a series as good on 2nd, 3rd, and more rewatch, so there’s that to look forward to.
Now back to the awesomeness of Paulie Walnut’s hair.

The only aspect of the show I didn’t really care for was Vito’s little side escapades in Vermont or wherever it was he went.

It's one of the funniest shows of all time, for sure.
Strung out Christopher getting beat with fisher price xylophones.
JT Dolan getting beaten with his Humanitas Award
Visiting Day/Defiler: "Stay out of our wayyyy, and don't be so gayyy"
I could just go on for days. The Sopranos subreddit is hilarious. The comment section replies are just a neverending stream of show quotes. Never any real discussion. It's hilarious.
Watch this video and read the comment section. I was fricking dying laughing the first time:

We were instantly sold on the series.

know I'm going to get crucified for this and I must be in the very small minority, but wasn't a huge fan of Pine Barrens.
I'm with you. It's one of my least favorite episodes. Seems like it's always gotten such praise because it was unique, but I just didn't enjoy watching Christopher and Paulie running around in the snow.
Also my funniest moment is completely random. During the intervention when Tony starts in on Chris
Chris: "There he goes Mr. Type A personality"
Tony: "We're here to talk about you killing yourself, not my frickin personality!!!"
Just the way he says that makes me bust out laughing every time

There's literally hundreds of absolutely hilarious lines in the show.
I'm currently doing another rewatch (big surprise) and Christopher and Adriana are having a conversation about the band Defiler and having Massive G represent the band.
Adriana to Christopher: You remember Richie Santini?
Christopher to Adriana: Yeah, you used to frick him.
Adriana to Christopher: That really sums it up.
Anyway, just the facial expressions of the both of them during that short exchange was just great. As I said, there's hundreds of obvious and subtle lines and exchanges throughout the show that's just so unique to The Sopranos.

I just finished a rewatch.
Man, all of the malapropisms. Those guys could butcher any saying or colloquialism.
Guy on phone to Paulie: “That guy was with the Russian Department of Interior”
Paulie to Chris: He was an “interior decorator” or somthin’.
Chris: No way. His apartment looked like shite!
