Yeah, I understand the advertising angle. That was kind of my point.

Cinematography, set design, etc. reminds somewhat of Deadwood. Going to watch this thru till the end. I haven't said that about a mini series in years.

Still enjoying it. It needed an antagonist and the general is an excellent one

the historical liberties really don't bother me as much as I thought they would. as you said, Gage is a great antagonist, and Hancock is funny as shite

You're pushing 10 years into 6 hours and you can't create 150 characters that really played a part. Overall, I think it's done a great job hitting big points even if there's some exaggerations and the involved characters arent always historically accurate.

right? that's my main problem with mini-series. the time table jumped 3 years overnight. I'm thoroughly enjoying it though

Yeah, tough to do in 6 hours, but seems to be a well done interpretation of the climate leading up to war.
Personally, I'd be fascinated to see more of the SoL and various clubs meeting at the Green Dragon to plot, along with the mayhem they created. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the tax collector being tarred & feathered or Tory printing presses getting wrecked.
But it does a great job of covering a lot of material and holding my interest. Doing it this way creates a sense of urgency that a longer series might lose.

They're playing the hell out of them too. Last night's ep will be on again tonight before the 3rd ep. I think it threw a lot of people off that it was a 3-straight-night event

Is that how it was for Hatfields and McCoys?

I never knew, until the opening scene, that the video game Assassin's Creed was loosely based on Sam Adams.

Set DVR to series record the first night. Thankful I did that now.

Two interesting omissions that they never could have worked into a 6 hour series was:
John Adams was the Attorney who defended the British soldiers who fired upon and killed the colonists in "The Boston Massacre." He caught a ton of grief for that while he was still basically a loyalist at the time.
I have not watched episode 3 yet so I don't know if they showed Franklin being lambasted by The Privy Council in "The Cockpit." That incident was what really turned him against Britain and in full support of the Colonies. He was ridiculed and humiliated by their treatment and demeanor torwards him that day. It was, for him, the final straw. If you are not familiar , just google {Benjamin Franklin and cockpit}
