In the episode that Gus invites Walter to his home to "break bread", as Walt walks in I believe there are some children's toys in the background. Also a bumper walker that a toddler would use.
Has anyone else noticed this?

This was likely just a cover for anyone he invited to his home. I thought it was made fairly clear that Gus is a homosexual man whose primary mission is to avenge his partner's death.

Gus wants to win, takeover the Eladio cartel, and avenge all that have done he and his wrong. That's it.

He gives a lot of money to Mexican charities and he loves working. He is a workaholic, so he is in his element in his restaurant. The restaurant is both a cover and a money laundering operation, much like the dry cleaners.

Restaurants, and they covered distribution, also.

He never gets the time to spend any of the money, and he’s always slaving away at his chicken restaurant. What’s the point?
Sounds a lot like what I've heard being a Chick-fil-A franchise owner is.

He's the Sam Walton of drug dealing.

It just seems pointless to take all that risk for a reward that you can never enjoy.
Walt couldn't keep the hot rod he bought Walt Jr. because he was only supposed to be a high school teacher.

I always figured he had a milestone goal set to destroy Don Eladio and Hector, then disappear with all his wealth like Keyser Soze.

In my mind that's got to be the worst feeling in the world, to have all that money and not be able to spend it.

The feeling you get when you spend it could be even worse. Ask these folks.

He did everything to get revenge over the killing of his boyfriend. Very deep character.

Gus was a perfectionist, and I think it carried over into everything he did, including running a restaurant business. You could tell he genuinely wanted his restaurant and his employees to be top notch.
