Double warning. I'm like 70 episodes in, and still on season 1. There are 5 seasons, so the likelihood of finishing this isn't great. The main character is very well cast tho.
5 seasons and 488 episodes? Good god

I wanted to come back to this thread and ask if anybody watched "The Method" on Netflix? It's a Russian Noir show with one season and 16 episodes. I finally finished it and it grew on me as I watched it. So it's a murder mystery show but the perpetrators of the crimes are mostly psychotic. And a veteran detective and his assistant go about solving these sometimes hideous crimes. I've seen a bunch of these European Noir shows now and The Method is as good as any. And as I said earlier in this post the main female star of this show is Paulina Andreeva who I nominated in another post on this Board as one of the most beautiful actresses I've seen. But if anyone saw it please let us know what you thought. Yeah and it's good. The scenery is worn down and gritty but the cinematography is excellent. Russian shows are neither woke nor politically correct so know that when you watch one.

Really enjoyed it. Same with me, it hits its stride as it goes along. Been awhile since I’ve seen it but I remember after the first 15 minutes of the 1st episode I thought it was kinda cheesy and I almost turned it off. So glad I stuck with it. Both leads were excellent, and yes, Paulina is ridiculously beautiful, and can really act. A long series but I’d recommend it.

FYI, there is another 16 episode season out for this show (The Method). It premiered in Russia in 2019. But it is not clear to me if Netflix will pick it up.

Watch her in "Better Than Us". She nailed the part of being a robot. She looked like a life sized Barbie Doll.
And for those of you who are thinking?? No, she does not play a "pleasure bot".

La casa de papel is a great Spanish show about “bank robbers”
Baby is an Italian show that’s based on a true story of underage Italian girls who got into prostitution for fun

La Revolution: French series during the revolution
I tried this but it was just too much.
I understand that the real Revolution had a lot of class divide but they were using way, way too many modern terms that made my eyes roll (the 1% controls 98% of the wealth was one such example)

Try La Mante on Netflix. It's another French noir murder mystery show with a crazy family twist.

Try Bordertown and Deadwind which are two Finnish murder mystery shows. And I just watched La Mante which is a French Netflix thriller. I'm getting to love these Netflix foreign shows
All good and there are dozens more just like those. The Break is fantastic.

Suburra is a fantastic show that more people should be watching.

Don’t forget Babylon Berlin.
It’s got everything. Great acting, direction, production, story... fantastic show that captures the feel of 1920’s Berlin.

quote:Thats not for me. The Turkish nationalism these days has gone overboard.
Now warning, this show is so heavy and over the top with Propaganda, that it will turn a lot of people off. It's almost comedic. The main group of Turks outside of a couple of characters, are essentially perfect in their honor and ethics, while the Templars are all grimy, subversive and weak.

Any of these as good as Dark or close to it?

Not on Netflix, but Gomorrah (HBO max?) kind of an Italian Sopranos
