I wasnt shocked at all. I mean it's a fricking tv show people.

I love the show, but dont see how people get so worked up about it. The lead actor isnt in a biker gang. Hes a soccer loving fig from England.

I can see a lot of people getting their panties in a wad over the school shooting scene but honestly I though Otto getting raped was more uncomfortable.

Briefly read through the thread and I see its been touched, but don't know in this angle... I wasn't outraged at the school scene because of the actual scene, I mean the other shite they have done on the show is just as bad.

Maybe I will be proven wrong, but that is a cheap fricking shot at gun control and the Newton School Shooting. That is the ONLY reason I can think he did that scene like he did. He is trying to make a political statement, which is horseshite when he has made millions over selling violence.

I hope I'm wrong, but if it is how it seems, frick you Sutter.

Still enjoy the show, but thats a piece of shite move.

Tig being forced to watch his daughter burn alive last year was a lot worse.

Yeah, like I said, they have done a lot of similar things for shock value.

But if this was a political statement, like I am almost positive it was, Sutter is a piece of shite for it.

I have no clue what are his political views, but it would highly surprise me if Sutter was anti gun!!!!!....I'm thinking it has to do with Jax wanting (and has been wanting) to get out of the gun business.

That's my thoughts as well.... Sutter said this episode will set up SOA trying to go more legit.

Yeah. I really don't see Sutter being anti-gun based on the shield and sons.

He also doesn't look like your typical Hollywood anti-gun nut.

It was just a way to get the ATF involved again because the gun was one of the Sons. It also will help further Jax's agenda of getting out of the illegal stuff. here could have been less shocking ways to arrive at that point, but that's not how Sutter does his shows.

Pretty good read... He kind of mixes his words back and forth, but it sounds like he had this planned out for a while. I'll give him a pass, because it does sound like this was coming for a while and not an instant reaction to Newton.

But he is full of shite about not being political, because in his last paragraph I quoted, he makes a political statement.

quote:

We don’t do political stories on this show. This isn’t about me making a political or social statement about gun violence and blah, blah, blah. So it was a difficult balance for me, because I didn’t want the story line to become about that. And yet, I had to acknowledge some of it because if I didn’t, it would feel irresponsible. So I tried to, as the season progresses, layer in enough of my point of view so there is some sense of responsibility in terms of the controversy but it doesn’t become a narrative arc about gun violence. It ultimately stays about the impact it has emotionally on our characters. My point of view — and I still believe this — is that one party is not responsible for those things.

Meaning, in my opinion, it is the gun laws, it is the level of illegal guns that people can buy on the street, it is the issues we have with mental health, it is our education system, it is the responsibility and burden on the family

It has been and I didn't know it until after. I saw on another board after watching the episode that they (FX) must have warned the admins in Newtown and they had sent a letter to parents.

I'm far from the "PC, don't hurt peoples feelings" person... But if FX was that concerned about it tying too closely to Newton, they could have just edited it to show the kid on the bench, him then pull the gun, then flash to something else, and come back to the cops arriving. Just insinuate what happened, not show the shadows and kids screaming.

Bobby going Nomad... That was his discussion with BigBoy when he moved in his fridge and then the conversation later on involving Gema and 4 people being Nomads

I don't know. None of the proposed gun laws will stop radicals from shipping guns from overseas and selling them on the black market. If his angle was a cheap shot at gun control, he should've shown the boy taking a legally acquired gun from somewhere.

I think it was more of a shock scene. Nobody saw it coming. Another problem Jax will have to deal with physically and emotionally.

He was one of the founding members of the redwood charter and the sons period.

Him stripping off his redwood patch is a big deal
