So with the Snyder Cut of the Justice League why no Jackson Cut of “The Hobbit”?

That would be way cheaper than the Snyder Cut of the Justice League and be very much demanded. Seriously just make the Hobbit Trilogy into a 3-4 hour film that would be as good as any of The Lord of the Rings film. Just completely remove Evangeline Lily from the film, everything to do with the Necromancer, remove like 2/3 the last film, Azog just shows up in the end, and remove Smaug leaving the Lonely Mountain covered in gold.

Unlike it costing 70 million for the Snyder cut, it would be less than a million to do the Jackson cut for The Hobbit. Yeah you’d have a Legolas cameo after the spider scene, but basically other than that remove everything from the movies that was original and just edit it to an outright straight adaptation. Some of the fan edits are truly excellent and I’m shocked a Jackson edit of the Hobbit has not been proposed or edited during this.

It’s so sad that the executives fricked up the movies, because Jackson got the actual scenes he needed to nail perfectly.

I am almost tempted to let you take it, if only to see Oakenshield suffer. Watch it destroy him... Watch it corrupt his heart and drive him mad! But I think not... I think our little game ends here!

Great movie moment in a subpar movie that can be improved. Please release an incredible edit.

I never understood why the studio executives insisted to Jackson that The Hobbit be a movie trilogy. I don't even fully understand why it had to be two films. The book is only 310 pages long. Compare that to The Fellowship of the Ring, volume one in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, at 423 pages long. The film adaptation of the latter novel required a runtime of just under three hours (theatrical release). Jackson could have easily provided a faithful adaptation of The Hobbit with a similar runtime and given fans an extended edition of the film later on.

I said at the beginning I don't know why studio executives wanted a trilogy, but the answer is obvious: money. They wanted to milk that cow for everything it was worth. The problem was they sacrificed quality to get that cash.

I didn't even bother with the Battle of the 5 Armies, I was so done with how the studio treated The Hobbit. I'll probably never see it.

Heck, I don't think I've ever watch either of the last two films all the way through. Heck, trying to watch The Hobbit they put out after the greatness that was TLOTRs was almost (although not quite) as bad as the way Game of Thrones tanked at the end.

It’s how Hollywood works and the fans get cheated.

Those producers and such sign deals that they must do X movies by X year.

They are cheating the system and it’s lazy and a cheap money grab. It’s the equivalent of throwing out a greatest hits album to fill a record

Most directors/artists/creators have very little interest in returning to past works. It's physically and emotionally draining, you get it done, and you move on.

I get that Snyder didn't finish the work and wanted closure. That Ayer is out there bitching in public makes him both a rarity and a bitch.

Both Jackson and the Hobbit movies made their money. He's clearly moved on to other interests. I doubt he sees how going back to the Hobbit could in any way benefit him.

To be fair, that is definitely true for Jackson and the Hobbit. Watching behind the scenes of that film you really have to feel for the man.

Studio executives don't give a shite about anything related to the movie other than how to maximize the about of profit it can being it.

There is a reason you rarely hear studio executives refer to then as movies. They call them projects. They really don't give a frick what it is.
