The problem with this movie and why it ruins Star Wars is that future Star Wars movies will have to be built off of this

The prequels weren’t like that. The second movie in a trilogy is a total piece of shite, so it doesn’t matter what you do with the third one and beyond

Both of these movies have been careful to not build off of the prequels only using the word “sith”...can’t ignore this movie and they won’t scrap it and start over

Jedi is a meh movie I think it’s bad, but it is at least good enough to build off of. This movie is a franchise killer.

Wrong.

The Skywalker Saga is over after IX. The next movies they make will take place over 1000 years in the past (from the existing movies).

And not enough people will care, because . . . .

But for long time fans at least, the force feels weak — and getting weaker

They have just done to this franchise, what was done to Ghostbusters. Not even a hint at another movie from them. A movie that made $229M

The funny thing is, you actually think that Ghostbusters is in the same league as Star Wars.

The more hilarious thing is that when the die-hard fans turned on Ghostbusters, it didn't matter how much the newbies thought, the film makers know what will happen to another sequel

They will experience the same thing for Ep IX.

Remember the excitement around TPM? #2 all-time at the box office. Wanna guess what happened to Eps 2 & 3 at the box office? Wanna guess how long before another one was made?

That's why TV shows get cancelled. When you alienate the die-hard fans, youre not going to magically attract new ones using the force

You're completely ignoring the fact that they've created a new generation of die hard fans

Ghostbusters made $229M. Where are those new die-hard fans?

Half the people that are watching VIII, don't like it. Its 56% at rotten tomatoes. And that's after they froze, it to keep it from falling more. That's Ghostbusters territory

They are not creating new lifelong fans.

They should’ve never brought back the original characters. TFA should’ve been set centuries after ROTJ. The Jedi and Sith long gone, the force awakens spontaneously throughout the galaxy.

Have you considered that most of the people who don't like it are from the previous generation of Star Wars fans? These same people won't like any movie that comes out with the name Star Wars because their expectations are too high.

Nah, 46 and I liked this movie. I just hated what they did to Luke. I just cannot buy he would have considered killing his nephew with out trying to save him first.

You mean the people that organize and attend conventions? That maintain web sites dedicated to Star Wars happenings? The ones that participate repeatedly on message boards and forums?

Hell, why would they have any effect on creating future excitement?
