So, wait...Tom Cruise was actually hanging on to the side of the plane in M:I-Rogue Nation

However crazy one wants to think of him with his personal life (and all that entails), he is a legitimate 4+ decade movie star and badass when it comes to working hard, doing his own stunts and making the best fricking movie he can with the resources on hand.

Period. Full stop.

Paramount released a 10 minute video a few months ago of the planning and actual stunt for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning. Cruise is a mad man.

And he did like 7 takes to get the shot.

The video said he did it 6 times that day. I wonder whose job it was to clean up the mangled remains of all those motorcycles at the bottom of the cliff

yeah he did - and knowing it makes the scene so much better.

it is like the plane scene in the 3rd batman film with the planes - and IM 3 with the people falling out of the plane. the fact they were freefalling for the shots makes it so much better.

My guess is they were happiest that none of the mangled remains were Tom Cruise himself.

He has to do shite like this to get any excitement out of life.

He has been able to do anything he wants for 40 years to a bunch of yes men, I think he likes to do shite people tell him not to do.

if this is truly the case, we are all the better for it. Mavrick would not have been what it was, if it was all a CGI Slogfest.

Cruise seems to have a genuine respect for the people who work behind the scenes to make it all happen.

He's a nutter. But he's also the most accomplished stuntman in history. Good for him.

People are impressed with Cruise jumping off the ramp and flying through the air. I'm impressed he made it to the end of that narrow ramp six times instead of veering off before getting to the end of the ramp and dying.

Heard an interesting podcast about how extreme athletes most of the time were born with a small amygdala that doesn't produce much of the fight or flight response. Meaning they don't get scared.

He said they looked at the brain of one of the free climbers and he had almost no activity in the amygdala. So, to them its nothing.

It also makes them very ornery.

I've seen Cruise interviewed about this. You can tell by the look on his face in the scene that he's got some serious butt clenching happening. .

This is why I will go a support any movie he does because he is literally the last action movie star. Does his own stunts . Also goes as far as to get type rated in the aircraft used in the stunts and flys them. It's insane what he does honestly.
