that was the first one that occurred to me. I can't even imagine the outrage that would ensue if it were done today.

Can’t find a link but Ackroyd once said in an SNL skit back in the 80’s that if we had to send any American products to China, “for God’s sake let it be Sominex”.

it was around '78-9 and he was doing an editorial quoting Napoleon on China, saying something like, "If China really is a sleeping giant, give the old broad some Sominex"

That's a good one! Richard Pryor did co-write Blazing Saddles.

I can only think of one more...but it might be celebrated today.

I'll post later

Half of Robert Smigel’s TV Funhouse stuff would be up there, such as the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Couldn't find it but I remember Alec Baldwin did a sketch where he was an OBGYN who was famous because every baby he delivered had been a girl. He later confessed that sometimes girls are born with a small vestigial penis that needs to be surgically removed but that doesn't make them any less a girl.

That was a funny joke then. Now it is scary how many insane woke people think like that.

Buck Henry as the babysitter?

i'm sure I could think of quite a few if i tried. Pat, posted earlier, is one I didn't think of, but would burn a lot of panties today.

This is the winner...AND I LOVE IT!

This made me think of Jim Norton as UNCLE PAUL molesting Baby Hitler.

I actually mentioned Uncle Paul and Jim Norton in my book.

Through Comedy...they brought awareness

I would guess most of the actors in all of those skits who are still living are super woke now.

Phil Hartman playing Sinatra with a round table of guests similar to the PBS show the McLaughlin Group.

This is a now-cancelled show in Showtime that was pretty much about a Pat-type person trying to deal with life. Julia Sweeney (who originated and played Pat on SNL) played a a recurring role as a fictionalized version of herself trying to make amends for the discomfort her character "Pat" caused the show's main character.

That's how far we've moved into Crazytown since the 90's.

Arguably the best sketch of all time and a huge chunk of why I was a big Phil Hartman fan.

All the Sinead O’Connor stuff alone would have gotten that cancelled these days, but the Luther Campbell stuff probably would have too.
