Let’s take the conversation somewhere that Hollywood might consider. If Smokey and the Bandit were to be rebooted , who would be cast in the lead roles:

Bandit- Matthew McConaughey
Frog- Mila Kunis
Snowman- Woody Harrelson
Buford T. Justice- Stephen Root
Junior- John C. Reilly

or take it a step farther.
where would they go to/from and what would they be running?

with all the interstates now, plus no longer having a national speed limit of 55 mph, the distance would have to be increased (or time frame shortened).
running a specific beer would be outdated today, so have to find a different product.
have to figure out a way for everyone to still have CB radios

and of course you'd have to go to TransAm of Florida to get a "modern" Trans Am

Not sure why anyone would downvote this, but I was your first upvote.

I should be more into this movie (it came out when I was in high school) but for some reason it never clicked.

An obnoxious friend of mine had one of the first T-Top Firebirds in town. One other rich kid got the exact same care, which pissed my friend off. Then the movie came out he looked like just another schmo following a trend.

Mike (Junior Justice) Henry was one of the better Tarzan actors. He was in the franchise when the James Bond craze hit, and they focused on the international action detective portion of the Tarzan character from the novels.

A remake would have to be set in the 70s.

No.

fricking no.

Hollywood needs to stop casting this fruit in every damn leading role. He's NOT a masculine "baw" and can't play one.

This is a pretty good list:

Bandit- Matthew McConaughey
Frog- Mila Kunis
Snowman- Woody Harrelson
Buford T. Justice- Stephen Root
Junior- John C. Reilly

Bandit- Johnny Depp
Frog- Shailene Woodley
Snowman- Chris Pratt
Buford T. Justice- Joe Pesci
Junior- Thomas Hayden Church (yeah, I know he's too old, but he would NAIL this part)

May not look quite the same but Walton Goggins would make an awesome Buford T. Justice.

I laughed out load hearing him say "you sum bitch" in my head.

I think he'd be awesome in this role.

Not sure on that date-- my buddies and I had just turned 18 and bought Coors in Biloxi in the summer of 1982...

That's exactly who I was thinking of. Yeah, he's too old. So is Reilly.

Maybe they'll tweak it and make Junior a younger brother of Buford?
Their father could be Shatner as Daddy Justice.
Hell, whatever.

Here's one line my brother and I use...
