I thought Slumdog was a really good movie, but probably not great. I think in 5 years, not many of us will remember it as one of the best ever. Should it have won Best Picture? Based on the movies I've seen, yes. However, this was a very weak year for movies.

Yeah I don't get into all that best picture hype or care about the awards though. I just know it kept me sucked in from start to finish and I never really knew how it was gonna end, I'm just glad it had a happy ending because I honestly thought it was gonna end badly(for Jamal).

Good movie. Best picture? I'm OK with it even though I haven't seen a few others. the ending was a bit cliched.

no, that's the same spot he told her to meet him the last time(when his brother and those gangsters intercepted her and took her back and sliced up her face)..........after making his call for his lifeline during the show, he knew she was free and made the decision to leave that dude for good, I guess he was just hoping she'd get away safely this time. She just showed up a little later than he expected. That's what I gathered.

Exactly. That call was HIS signal to her to go there, and his ONLY reason for going on the show in the first place. He knew if he went on the show and was able to make a big "splash", she would see him (she was a huge fan of the show).

Then, when he used that call, he was telling her to meet him at their 'special place'.

wouldn't he have been recognized though? It seems people would have been all over him.

well remember that scene just before he went in for the final question and all the peasants gathered outside his cab......they made it look like they were gonna mob him and try to beg for his money but all they did was give him blessings. It's like one of their own had made it and they were more proud or happy for him than envious.

great feel good movie. suspenseful to the end. had a city of god feel to it. good music too. that girl is amazing (my father worked in India for 4 years and said they had the most beautiful women). i loved the little kid actors. it also showed that americans dont have much to bitch about considering the poverty levels in other areas.

I grew up poor, and stuff like this still humbles you, and makes you appreciate what you have.

One great documentary that I'll recommend to people involves the Calcutta Red Light District.

Born Into Brothels is a documentary about a photographer teaching photography to the children of Indian prostitutes. It's a powerful and also sad documentary, very eye-opening.

The girl, the girl, the girl. I've been pretty much creepy obsessed with her since I saw her for the first time at the Golden Globes. She is incredible.

This movie was pretty great. I want to face hump Freida Pinto. I loved the dance scene during the credits...nice work, Danny Boyle.

I thought it was pretty good. It didn't blow me away or anything. I didn't continue thinking about it once it was over. It was a nice, little feel-good movie. I did prefer The Wrestler and Milk to this. Yes, yes, I know. I'm going to go kill myself.

When I first saw her name at the end credits was "Freida Pinto", I went home confused thinking that she was Puerto Rican.

I read that her ancestors may have Portuguese blood, hence the last name. She says shes 100 percent Indian.
