I have an incredibly high tolerance for ridiculousness in weird horror movies….

But I think this movie broke me…. I think I found myself muttering WTF is happening here?

The incest angle between the mother and son?

How are the skinwalkers able to change a car or make a car invisible?

Why couldn’t the mother hunt herself?

What is the weird life force thing theybsuck out of people?

How are cats scratches so deadly…

I could go on…. But this movie is so odd

The advertising for this movie was everywhere when it came out. That fricking song stayed stuck in my head for a year.

No the song “sleepwalk” by Santos and Johnny from the 50s. It was in every trailer and they ran constantly on TV and radio.

There’s some kind of folklore/old wives tale about cats coming in and sucking the soul out of people while they slept and killing them. I think Stephen King alluded to this same concept in Dr. Sleep with the death cat in the hospital.

The cat wasn't killing anyone. It was just sensitive to when people were about to pass away and would let Danny know so he could comfort them. It was the vampires like Rose the Hat who were sucking out souls in Dr Sleep. The cat actually helps Danny against the vampires in the book.

King also had a cat protect Drew Barrymore from a troll that was trying to suck the life out of her when she was asleep in Cat's Eye.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of soul sucking King's work.

I chose a poor choice of words. Shouldn’t have said “alluded”; maybe kind of “paid a little homage to” is better? Or maybe it’s just total coincidence that it was cat and he was going for the animals are hypersensitive to death lurking route. Idk

That was actually based on a real cat and is supposedly something not uncommon. Hell, nature shorts had a hilarious episode about that

I saw this in the theater. I was about 14 and it was me and my mother........i had asked to go and it was a big moment for me because we went to see a movie i had picked. You can imagine the scarring that followed. The trailer left out the fricking incest parts!
