Friends, Seinfeld, How I met your Mother

Big bang theory is just okay IMO, but the fanbase of that show is the worst. They think they are so clever and awesome and if you don't like it you are just not smart enough to understand.
I've never seen an episode, but of the previews I've seen one of the characters seems to be dressed as sort of a hipster, so what you say about the show's fanbase makes sense.

think the Big Bang Theory is fricking horrible. And I love the posters on this board that go to bat for this show and accuse every non-believer that we just aren't smart enough to get it, as if the humor is so high brow and inspired that little ole me can't figure it out.
Who on this board has ever defended TBBT on those grounds? If anything, the "smart" posters go the other way - deriding the show for not being smart at all. I'm yet to see a defense of the show based upon the grounds that it is so high-minded that the average person couldn't get it. That's an absurd defense anyway for a show that so clearly shoots for middle America.
Shows I dislike that people whose opinions I trust like:
Happy Endings
Family Guy
Seinfeld (I don't hate it, but it's overrated as hell)
Entourage

Pretty much all of them. I hate sitcoms for the most part.

The correct answer is anything done by Seth McFarland that is not family guy.

There are a lot of threads that have defended the show on those grounds. And then it spirals into a discussion about whether the show uses a laugh track or not, and someone always has some GIF saying "this is our laugh track" with an audience in the background.

There is not one single sitcom other than Seinfeld that I have liked. I actually hated all the others. I watched two episodes of 'Friends' and didn't even smile once.

Thought I was alone on Seinfield. Never really cared for it. Always thought it was over rated.

Never liked Seinfield because I hated George

Serenity Now. Summer of George. Opposite George.
Yeah I guess if you didn't like George, you probably wouldn't like the show.

it's just shite that people make up. someone probably said it once somewhere on the internet, and it spread like wildfire.
similar thing with arrested development. are the jokes good and intelligent on AD? of course. do you still only need to be average to get them? yes. if you don't like that show, you can still be smart, but you're also a shitty person.

Nobody made it up. There are a ton of people on this board that love the show and dismiss any criticism in that way. If you like The Big Bang Theory and you post about it enough to refer to it as "TBBT", you are a shitty person in my book.

quote:Is the Nickelback of sitcom shows if you ask me.
Two and a Half Men
quote:Was funny in the beginning, but now it's dumb.
30 Rock
quote:First few seasons were golden. Then it got extremely boring and predictable. Also, Ted's character is just annoying to watch because he keeps doing the same irrational things over and over again & Robin's character is a whore that doesn't want to admit it.

I think you did. Really? Tons of people? I can't think of any that defend the show on those grounds. Here was the thread this week on it, in which no one argued only smart people could get it:
LINK
Here's a thread from December. Precisely one person argued it was a smart show, and pretty much everyone made fun of that idea.
LINK
Here's another thread comparing Community to TBBT, and the show most of us agreed was the smart one was Community.
LINK
The argument that people are claiming that TBBT is a really smart show and above criticism, especially on this board, is plainly false. In fact, it gets criticized for being dumb and formulaic.
And using acronyms for any long-titled show is pretty standard on the internet. Get over yourself.
