My response had nothing to do with Kirk. The posters statement implied that Obama allegedly called ABC as president.

So you think an unelected, private citizen should control networks

Are you serious? Every network is controlled by an unelected citizen. The FCC, who is also run by an unelected person is only a regulator.

So now you’re going to conflate ownership with non ownership and their influence. I find this disheartening, we can’t get to the causes of our problems because some people refuse to have good faith discussions.

No my point is no one who runs these networks is elected you were the one who brought up unelected people getting involved. Not sure how that is not having a good faith discussion.

And you compared him to someone who owns the network so it’s exactly what you did. Oh and btw the full story on Kimmel is out, it wasn’t satire, he was going to keep pushing the debunked nonsense and attacking Kirk. Thats why ABC suspended him.

Or Fox News getting sued. Or Gina Carano getting fired.

What does Kimmel have to be accountable for? He wisecracked that
Some people were trying to shift blame to another group.
He’s a comedian on a late night show.
Other than outright libel or threats, he should be able to say whatever he wants without government intimidation

The FCC did absolutely nothing to Jimmy Kimmel.

To be clear: the FCC took no action here.

That wasn't a joke. Not even anyone in his own audience laughed. He was lying about factual events.

“Some people” were not trying to shift blame or were not trying to characterize as Kimmel said. People on the right were sharing the factual truth that came out that the shooter was a leftist nut job because the news did not want to share that information. Kimmel clearly tried to deflect away that the shooter was in fact a leftist nut job. That’s not satire.
