Del toro was so damn good. Need to do a rewatch. It’s been a few years. I loved it initially but it’s so tense. I have to be in certain mindset to really enjoy it.

One of my all time favorites, for sure top 4.

I think my hot take (maybe?) is I thought the second one was also outstanding. Not as good, but better than most of what’s coming out these days.

The Descent Into Hell scene is one of the best shot sequences in film history.

The lighting is insane.

Sicario was a one-time watch for me for some reason. Just never had the desire to pick it up again. Could be the ending scene.

Totally agree

The 2nd one, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, is very good also

Hard to follow up on the first but they did it

I read that the Steve Forsing character, his look was based on Mike Vining

For those who aren't aware, SGM Mike Vining is a bad motherfricker.

Emily Blunt was great in that flim, allowing Brolin and Del Toro to really showcase the range of their characters.

what I really like about her role and acting is that she is highly qualified, talented, and good at her job, but quickly realizes that this is a man's world and it's a world where her moral compass cannot finish the job that must be done.

she's not weak, but she's weaker than the people that she's fighting or fighting with her.

Sheridan can have some stinkers out there, but this and Wind River will sit with you for a good long while.

I didnt get that part in the film. At all.
Her role was being confused, stressed out and stubborn. So much they were using here to operate across territories outside of the US Juristican. That was her part "contribution" to the team.

Even during the kick off meeting she wanted in because of the death of her Partner during the drug raid. As was explicitly told, there were no guidlines.

Even with the Bank scene, they told her not to go in, multiple times, trying to protect her. She goes in determined and thats how she got "Marked."

There is nothing about "realizing she is weak or this is a "Mans World."

They forced her to sign her signature, against her will, on a warrant at the end or they were going to kill her. Thats why she signed.

Thats it. End of story.

She was used. Then given the advice, she should probably move outside of any Major Cities because the cartel knew her idenitiy from the Bank scene.

Her role was so beliveable, that she carried the film. Allowed Brolin and Del Toro to really showcase the depth of their characters.

Blunt was great. in that film. I couldnt imagine anyone else in it.

Sicario is one of those movies that will stand the test of time.

In the same vein of The Professional. Great movie. Still holds up.

Such a great film. Remember not knowing too much about it going into see it at the theater and during the convoy scene into Juarez, it hit me that I was watching greatness and one of my favorite movies of all time unfold in real time. And I think I make this exact post every time someone new watches it on here I saw a few convoys like that in Virginia and they’re just as badass in person.

It’s horror and action all rolled into one. That score is something that would work just as well in a movie like Hereditary or Sinister. And hats off to border patrol, you have to be a real bad hombre to handle that job.
