That was good enough for the top stop on the box office lists. Surely, you can find the Lion King DVD for like $10. Is 3D really that much of a draw for people?

If it were playing here, I'd certainly see it. Seeing the Stampede scene in 3D would likely be pretty fricking amazing. Plus it was my third theater going experience, so it would be heavily nostalgic to watch it again on the big screen.

Movie studios, particularly in mid January-early March, should certainly re-release some of the classics back on the big screen. Its extremely cheap to do and people will go and see them.

TLK was te first movie my mom took me to see in theaters as a child. I also keep the soundtrack in pretty heavy rotation. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. Of course I went to see it.

I must add to this soon.

I already had to walk over to Subway this weekend just to buy a kid's meal for the Lion King bag it comes with.

And oh man, I already know I'm going to cry...not even at the Mufasa death, it just brings tears to my eyes from sheer nostalgia and awesomeness at random parts like the Circle of Life opener. Even while watching a movie at home over the summer, preview for TLK 3D comes on, mom says "Don't cry, Devery"

Saw it Saturday night with the gf and it was fricking awesome. Loved it in 3D as well (I heard or read somewhere that they've been working converting it to 3D for a while now, to make it legit instead of just throwing it together a la Clash of the Titans). The scenery was more awesome than ever because of 3D. And The Lion King is one that I can watch 100 times and never tire of it...it's my #1 animated movie of all time (and in my top 5 favorites).

If you like the movie, it's easily worth the exrta money to see it in theaters and in 3D.

Did anyone else stay after the credits and see Samuel L. Jackson try to recruit Simba into the Avengers?

Dude, my four year old discovered Lion King when we visit my mom and dad in an old VHS tape that my mom had. She watched it so many times, over and over, that she completely memorized the movie.

Now, for the last two months, every single time the Lion King commercial came on if we were in a different room, she started yelling at the top of her lungs, "September 16th, September 16th". So, I had no choice but to pony up the $30 for tickets and $20 for popcorn and cokes to go see a movie I have already seen 52 times.

TLK has been in the Disney Vault for 7-8 years. It's a marketing ploy for Disney so that can create a 'false demand' for people--i.e. "Oh, Aladdin's on DVD now, better go buy it before it goes back into the Vault next month because it won't be back for another 7 years" kind of false demand.

That's why I go to this secret little site called eBay.

I wanted to take kids last week but man, that's expensive for a lot of kids with friends. No way. Going with the old school DVD.

I was in high school when it first came out so I missed it back then but have come to appreciate the movie over the years. It has one of my 2 favorite songs from an animated film ("Hakuna Matata" by Jimmy Cliff) with "Magic Dance" by David Bowie from the movie Labyrinth being the other.

My 2 little nephews (age 5 and 2) have the Lion King 2 on DVD but it doesn't have most of the lion characters in it. I don't know if they've ever seen the original Lion King before.

I would love to go see it, just haven't had time. I was 1 when it came out, so this would be my first time to see it in theaters. So I definitely think it'd be worth it to see one of my favorite kids movies in theaters for the first time.

Granted I don't keep up with their viewing habits so they've probably seen it. The last time I was at my brother's house and was putting on a cartoon for them I couldn't find the orginal Lion King in their collection. They could probably recite all 3 Toy Story movies they've seen them so many times.

I hadn't heard Hakuna Mutata in forever and saw something on TV about the Lion King that made me remember it. I pulled the Jimmy Cliff version of the song up on youtube and couldn't get it out of my head for a few days. Such a catchy feel good song.

Took the kids tonight to see it. I never realized how lacking Simba was in his fighting skills. Definitely not as talented as his father. Pinned by Nala 3 times, plus he didn't exactly dominate the aging Scar.
