You don’t understand what this term means, stop using it.

"educate yourself" is the language of losers who have effectively lost their standing.
McGuffin, MacGuffin, Mystery box... call it what you want,, but the show starts off on the absurdity of this 'thing' existing in the world and it being used to promote the rest of the story.
So, everyone but me can be right, huh? Jeezus.
I had ONE major criticism of the series so far. ONE. Not that there weren't other minor issues, but I simply didn't care for the ending. It was classic subversion of expectations for reasons that I don't believe were warranted. If Mark and Helly were more invested in each other, I'd buy it. Maybe not fully, but better than what we got.

quote:First intelligent thing you said here. That’s the questions for S3. We don’t know. The innie “revolt” easily made those questions unanswerable at this point. But those are great speculation topics. Get there and I’d love to discuss.
And for the 5th or 6th time, I lost track, what happens to MDR after Cold Harbor? That's not a trivial matter. The story clearly makes it a big freaking deal.
How is Milkshake leading a marching parade on severance floor. That is where different takes are great. IMO.

I'm guessing that's not so unique a nickname for him, but I've only heard it on one Youtuber's channel.

Dude, I've talked this show a lot. I've been both right and wrong on predictions, but that is nonsense.
I've made no beef saying I enjoy discussing this show. I personally think its great. Some posters I respect have different takes. And that's what it is about.
quote:No. Just get the basics and then let's go.
So, everyone but me can be right, huh? Jeezus.
If you think the jumping off point of a show or movie is a McGuffin, then all I'm trying to do is get you to understand better and we can go from there.
I'm not here to argue, but discuss.
quote:That's how most stories start. Is there a Pet Semetary book or movie without that idea? I don't understand if you're intentionally being obtuse.

Anyhow... I want to leave it alone, but I also want to discuss the show. Maybe I need a new thread for people like me.

You know nothing. I do watch, and I watch recaps on YouTube too. I'd tell you which channel, but I know you don't care.
Yes, I had heard Milkshake before, wasn't sure where, other than for sure on that channel. It's minutia, not substantive to the plot.
I'm not marrying this show. We're on good terms, but I'm watching other shows too.

Wow!! I was so utterly and completely owned!!!

Even the "Ether" comment someone else said earlier would be over your head in relation to the show. You just don't do that or something was your response - you had no idea that there is an episode about a Lumon Ether one factory town.

This dude is lying when he says he watches the show.
I've also seen brighter bricks. I need to just stop... but I just wanted to discuss the show and his best quality is availability.

Unless there are contract issues for John Turturro, there is zero reason for his storyline to be complete. He has the most mysterious and important backstory. We know the rest of the teams history now, but Irv is a shrouded in secrecy. We are not done with Irv.
They definitely wrote his ending this season in preparation for him not returning or in a limited capacity
He’s 68 and attached to other stuff.

I deep dive on things, listen to opposing views and perspectives. I had this conversation earlier today with a very interesting and intelligent coworker about educating ourselves and listening to other perspectives. Nothing to do with Severance, just not circling our own thoughts. It’s a good thing. That’s kind of what some of us do. So again, I’m game.

Again, what you THINK you know & what you actually know aren't exactly similar.
Use of the word 'ether' can have other meanings besides what takes place in the show.
Good grief.
How'd I know Cobel was the one who claimed credit for the design of the implant & the severance concept if I didn't even watch that ep? Or that EVERYONE watching knew that once her aunt took the pages from her, that she'd toss them in the open flames and try to burn them?
FFS, get a life.

Would you agree that your post history on this board is terrible?
quote:That’s your rebuke? I’m on this board because I enjoy discussing M/TV. We all have interests. Mine are varied, just like anyone else. That’s a terrible response on a message board about M/TV. Why are you here?

She talks a good bit before and after the vids. Has pretty good insight on things, but misses by a fair bit too. Entertaining, at least.
The more I like a show, the closer I pay attention. I'm watching this one, so there's that. I'll pick up on some stuff, but clearly, not everything.

Not even a little bit. If I annoy some folks, maybe they're the ones who need being annoyed. That's not my intent.
And if by 'terrible', do i feel I've failed to get love, adulation and respect from others? Not why I'm here. Not my intent either.
