I'm biased, because Scream is my favorite movie of all time, and I think it has one of the greatest opening scenes put on film.

But I finally got around to seeing The Cabin in the Woods, and I really enjoyed it. Original, clever idea that had a bunch of funny moments.

I ask because I've seen these two movies compared to one another a lot.

Love both

But Scream...they did it first and no scene in Cabin in the Woods comes close to the opening scene in Scream

Not close, IMO. Both are good movies, but Cabin in the Woods is in a league of it's own.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil at least needs some consideration. I laughed so hard at this scene I cried.

Opening scene of scream is badass. Maybe the best opening scene for any horror movie.

Scream.

Awesome opening scene, clever references to classic horror, and one of the better villains in slasher film history.

I'm writing in Cabin Fever. It wasn't as overtly self aware as the other two, but it knew what it was doing.

I'll go with Scream, but I fricking LOVE Cabin in the Woods...funnest movie I've seen in a long time when it came out.

But Scream sort of paved the way and is one of the better horror movies of all time, all while managing to be completely meta and making fun of its very self.

Scream is the correct answer.

But only by a very small margin. Both are fantastic.
