Yeah. Best part is she's obviously a psychopath who enjoys killing. She's just able to control her psychopathic tendencies and direct them at people who are trying to kill her. But that little smile and head tilt she gave Quinn while taunting her about her brother just before she capped her in the head...that was pure evil and shades of Billy Loomis.

This shouldn't be a compliment

Just got out. As a huge Scream fan, I liked it a lot. The motive wasn’t the best, but still better than Scream 3 and 5’s motive but I did like that it harkened back to Scream 2 with it being a parent of a killer.

Other than that, I really enjoyed it. I’d rank it ahead of Scream 3 and 4. Not sure I’d put it above 5. I think I would but need to sit with it longer with the original and Scream 2 a league above

ETA: small thing but really enjoyed how Mindy and Kirby danced around whether or not Stu is alive and not really answering either way. I know Williamson already came out and said Stu was dead so I’m sure they threw that in there for fans but god damn it I would love it if Stu came back in some way if they do a 7th one. It would be ridiculous if he was still alive but I don’t even think I would give a shite. It would be so awesome to see him back because he and Skeet (the guy who plays Billy) are HUGE HUGE fans of the franchise along with Jamie Kennedy. Again, it would be ridiculous but at this point, I think fans would just go with it and what better way to end the franchise than to bring back an OG. He would obviously target Sam for being the offspring of his partner and he’d still be out for Sid so that would be a way to bring her back

Apparently they writers and directors have even discussed it recently. Here’s a link:

Really minor complaints that didn’t hurt my enjoyment of the movie at all:

- I don’t feel like they used what could have been a great setting enough. The two times they used “New York” was fricking awesome with the bodega and the subway. Wish there was more of it.

- I feel like they had a lot of kills but none that really stung. Like in the first, it really sucked to see Casey and Tatum die but it was necessary. Same for Randy in Scream 2 and Dewey in Scream 5. In total, the film professor, the two early killers, Anika, the psych guy and Gale’s new boyfriend and that was it. None of them were a total loss. Anika’s death was tough to watch because the chick who acts as Mindy did such a good job, which leads me to my next point. Chad and Mindy both grew on me but I felt like one of them needed to go, probably Mindy since she figures shite out quicker than the others. Or at least kill off Kirby since they killed off Judy in 5.

- Really the only other complaint I have is that most of the new characters were mostly forgettable which was a pitfall for 3&4 and some of 5 but something that Scream 2 nailed with Mickey, Mrs. Loomis, Hallie, Derek and Cotton. If they do a 7th one, which they probably shouldn’t, that’s where the focus needs to be. We’ve established Tara, Sam, Chad and Mindy enough. Let’s inject some more memorable side characters so we care when they die. They probably should have had Samara Weaving stick around a little longer. Ethan was good and I liked him so I knew he was either going to die like Derek, to prove it wasn’t him, or be a killer. It was a similar feeling I had about Richie.

Things I loved:

- Most movies forget about the character arcs of the mainstays in the sequels. It was nice to see Tara and Sam both get arcs this time and it be organic and not forced and in Sam’s case, still feels unresolved.

- Chad and Mindy, who I wasn’t a huge fan of them in Scream 5, were great in this one. They acted better, had better shite to do and I cared about them way more by the end.

- The bodega and subway scenes were brilliantly directed and were probably the most intense moments in the entire series outside of when Sidney and Hallie are trying to crawl over Ghostface in the wrecked car in Scream 2.

- Kirby was a great replacement for Sid. Wish she had more playful moments like she had with Mindy but I thought she was a good addition and actually had me believing she could be the killer with the fakeout.

- REALLY enjoyed the opening. Was definitely a subversion of expectations done right. Probably lingered a little too long on the phone with “Reggie” at the bar but probably my third favorite opening in the series, slightly behind the OG and Scream 2.

- Loved the theater call back to Scream 2 and having the end set there but loved the twist of it being a shrine to killers. Really nice fan service IMO

Saw this at the theater today in 3D. It's a well-produced product to serve mass horror appeal. Nothing particularly memorable about it. It's pop culture horror junk food. If that's your thing, you'll enjoy it. I found it ok. It's nothing I'd normally choose to watch.

I will say, however, that I didn't care for the fact that the movie plays fast and loose with its internal logic. There's little suspense to be had once you realize that important characters get stabbed once while the others meet more grisly fates (although the vast majority, aside for a few characters, meet a very similar type of death). Similarly, other important characters are inexplicably brought back after being mortally wounded on screen to serve story mechanics.

Finally, due to the movie's double cold opening and its false denouement, the movie feels LONG. And speaking of that ending! I'll just say very ill advised.

Each Scream sequel is worse than the one that came before it. I was bored to tears watching Scream 6. 2 hours was too long.

I noticed that, too. I could see him coming back for “vengeance” against Sam for her dad “ruining his life” by convincing him to be a murderer from Scream 1. Not sure I like that plot though.

Just got out of watching. Agree with the general consensus that it is a solid addition and the reveal was a bit underwhelming. However the rest of the movie was well enough done to make up for it. The opening was my favorite since the first film.

I like how they openly addressed the rumors about Stu still being alive by showing that he was indeed dead on the investigation board, then had the line about "if you really believe he is".

Seeing as they new reboot starting with #5 is seeming to mirror the original films, logic tells you that the killer in Scream 7 (which there will be since these movies gross very well) could likely be an estranged sibling like Roman.

Interestingly enough Tara and Sam were estranged siblings...

Also just recalled the scene where Ethan offers Sam three issues. Some subtle foreshadowing.

Hmm. I wonder if they'll do this or do something a little different and maybe do a sibling of one of the original killers. Maybe Stu had a brother that's been biding his time. So it's kind of similar but not really. I dont think they'll follow Scream 3 to the T since it's the least liked of the franchise

It's way more graphic than 1-3. Maybe a bit more than 5 too. I wouldn't heisitate to let my 15-16 year old watch 1-3 but idk if I'd let them watch 5 or 6 until they were a little older. Don't get me wrong. It's not Saw but there are some brutal stabbings and deaths.

you literally see victims getting brutally stabbed about 15-30 times in secession with some knife twisting and blood bubbling out of wounds. do you want her to see that?

I still think Scream 1 was more gory. They disemboweled someone in a graphic way in the first movie and that was way gorier than anything else seen.

That said, yes, this is bloody but. I thing a 15 year old couldn’t handle.
