I like it better than his other Netflix movies.

On a related note I was reading some stuff about Sandler. He seems like a pretty normal dude for Holywood. Married to the same woman with a couple of kids. Seems to be really loyal to his friends. Makes a great living turning out comedies and then puts out a passion project every now and then. Not a bad life.

But I don’t see why it’s getting such good reviews. Middle of the road movie to me.

Hollywood seems to have gone away from putting out entertaining character and story based movies without some type of agenda so when it happens it seems much better than it is. Take Coda for example. An entertaining well put together character based coming of age story with very little in the way of artistic or technical achievement closer to the John Hughes spectrum of films than Godfather wins best picture.

I enjoyed it so could get over the fact that it was his left hand that was injured, shouldn't it have been his right hand?

This movie sucked. Worse than Uncut Gems. I should have known once I saw LeBron as a producer and lesbian playing a heterosexual wife (Queen Latifa). Sandler is really starting to make shitty movies!

because he's saying he reached over to protect the guy in the passenger seat? interesting, didn't think of that

It was one of the first Adam Sandler movies I’ve enjoyed in decades

Sounds like you enjoy shitty movies to me. He's made so many garbage movies but 2 of his best you hate? That's funny

And yeah even though Sandler is famous for his comedy, he is honestly an excellent dramatic actor. Punch Drunk Love, Uncut Gems, Reign Over Me, Spanglish, Funny People, and this. Not bad.

The Cobbler is also a nice little movie.

Not too bad of a movie. But wouldn’t watch again either. Nothing special about the plot or anything intriguing

I didn’t even know he had more Netflix collaborations other than Uncut Gems.

He loves basketball so expected this to be a solid flick.

That movie is too depressing to watch a second time. The entire movie is just watching someone go through the 7 stages of grief.

Good, entertaining movie. Good villains, the NBA players/coaches were less cardboard than what you'd expect in their performances.

To be honest, seeing Sandler in a serious role brought up a little PTSD from watching Uncut Gems. Not a bad thing, but I had to shake that off to enjoy the movie for what it was.

yeah, Uncut Gems was a good movie but I don't think I can ever watch it again.

I will probably watch this one this weekend. I have heard good things.

They were perfectly believable as a fifty-ish mixed-race couple.

I wonder if Tom Hanks is okay with a lesbian playing a woman in a straight relationship?

Just kidding. I couldn't give a frick less what he thinks about anything.

More believable than Sandler being married to Jennifer Aniston or Salma Hayek.

The casting of Queen Latifah as his wife is so strange and doesn’t work. They have zero chemistry in this, even in their first scene together when he comes home after being gone for a while they just kiss on the cheek.
