She's never going to stand toe to toe with Superman from a physical standpoint. Cavill looks like a body builder.
I think they went with height when casting Gadot. You can build muscle, you can't build height. She isn't the traditional 6'1, but she is 5'9 with long legs and arms making her appear taller. For those wondering Carano is 5'8 and most other actresses are shorter. It's hard finding a female that tall unless you want to go with a complete unknown.

I'll give an honest answer:
DC clearly has the more iconic classic characters from their Golden Age. Really, only Spider Man and maybe Captain American are as truly iconic as DC's pantheon of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. That's both a blessing and a curse, because its hard to write a story for an icon instead of a character.
Marvel tends to have far better storytelling for its heroes. When they make a movie, they tend to use Marvel's stories. When they make a DC movie, they just keep the origin story as its so well known, and chuck the rest. Outside of some Batman stories, it's hard to think of any truly great DC superhero stories in the past 30 years. So if you care about superhero characters and a coherent universe, Marvel is your bag.
That said, again, DC's stand alone comics and characters are amazingly great. Their prestige brand is fabulous. They did stuff like Sandman, Preacher, and Watchmen and continue to this day. DC's non-universe stuff is pretty great, and Marvel cant touch that. They've been unable to branch out past its own universe.
Naa that's not honest, that's just right.
For me DC was better in the Golden Age, when Byrne and Claremont got to Marvel in the late silver Age, Marvel took over completely by the Bronze. They then spent the 90's about neck and neck each making some bad decisions. And they've rebounded about the same as well. And each of them now reshuffle every 5 years. "UNIVERSE CHANGING EVENT #132. NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME!" Until they do the same thing again. And again. And again.
Most of the great characters on both sides: Superman, Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine- have found their groove that they ride in even through the massive shuffles.
I think Marvel's strength, outside of characters and stories, was not targeting kids directly, as many of DC's Golden and even Silver Age books did. DC used books outside of the core universe to cater to an older crowd - Swamp Thing-. Marvel went after teens quickly, and although that caused them to become super-emo in the 90's, it freed them to write more complex stories.

That all makes sense, DC has the more iconic characters, which could cause them to rest on their laurels to an extent and skimp on the quality of the stories. Marvel doesn't have characters with the same level of notoriety as DC, so they compensate by trying to have better storytelling.

With the animated movies, DC has been far better than Marvel. DC has had some BAD movies. Marvel has been more consistent with movies.

I can't really think of any bad DC animations. Both in the movies and cartoons. All of the Batman movies were great, which a fair amount of credit must go to Conroy and Hamill. Their voices for those characters became iconic.
Then you have the B/S and JL movies. Then the Batman, JL, JLU, and YJ shows.
Actually, I figured out 2 meh ones, GL and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Yeah DC has been killing it with animated movies the last few years...Marvel just stopped making them, probably had a little something to do with the MCU being as successful as its been.

Yeah they quit making films for the most part, but their animated shows have been solid. Avengers, Assemble, Invincible Iron Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, etc. They've done well there.

Best animated version of X-Men since the 90's version.

X-Men 90s cartoon is where all of my X-Men knowledge came from before the recent movies.

Some GoT stuff (with book spoilers, sorry show-only folks):
GRRM reveals a character who will be in the Winds of Winter prologue. He also confirms that he is not writing an episode for Season 5 of the show because he plans to concentrate on finishing The Winds of Winter.

Also the full Game of Thrones panel from CC. Craig Ferguson moderating.

Lucy Lawless would be the perfect person to play WW imo...about 10 years ago, unfortunately.

If they can keep making them like that, they could start moving in on DC's animated domination.
Marvel has so many gritty and dark stories to work with, yet they always seem to pick the opposite.

It obviously doesn't mean we see it's release anytime soon, but I do find it encouraging that he's move from his "frick you" comments to realizing that fans are getting antsy. And rightfully so.

It's strange like that. Marvel's MCU movies are far more lighthearted/Silver Age targeted to families.
DC's movies since Batman have pretty much been darker/more serious.
When it comes to animated films/shows DC's are more serious, while Marvel almost strictly targets kids/pre-teens.
