Just give me the pit lined with teeth and a real prop tongue and forget your ridiculous flopping around cgi.

I hate the Star Wars reedits and those that think they are somehow an improvement.

That poor bastard Harmy spent years working on it, then Disney finally puts out the originals on blu ray

I've wanted these. I remember Star Wars, and I want to turn off the "remix" whenever I see the CGI stuff on Tatooine.

But I haven't been able to actually GET the despecialized editions; don't have a bluray burner.

I watched the original cuts of the films for years and the switch to the special edition just hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the films all that much.

There will always be certain changes that were not necessary such as Greedo shooting first or the musical number in Jabba's palace in RoTJ, or Vader shouting "Nooo," but I like the added CGI space battle scenes in A New Hope and the CGI flyover of Mos Eisley. In Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett is given the proper voice, Cloud City looks much more impressive, and the Emperor is portrayed by the correct actor.

In RoTJ, I don't remember many of the changes outside of the bad that I've already mentioned, but I do love the revised musical number at the end as well as the camera panning across various planets (including Naboo from the PT) showing the crowds celebrating the destruction of the Death Star. Hayden's force ghost doesn't bother me as much. Sebastian Shaw was way too old to portray Anakin in RotJ. He was older than Alec Guinness at the time. This doesn't cause a problem when he's Darth Vader because Vader without a mask is supposed to look rough, but he just looks too old at the end of the film. Having Hayden be the force ghost makes sense; however, they should not have used stock footage of Hayden from the RoTS days. They should have had him shoot a quick scene or at the very least use some CGI to make him appear older.

And the "Jedi Rock" in Jaba's palace.

I remember watching this 20 years ago during the re-release and feeling like I was watching a muppet movie. That and the Mos Eisley/Cantina scene changes in Star Wars were the worst parts of the special editions to me by far.

I recall reading somewhere that a main hurdle to releasing the OT theatrical versions was that Fox owns the distribution rights to the original.

That is true. They own the original release of Episode IV in perpetuity.

Vader yelling "Nooooo" as he picked up the emperor was so unnecessary. The internal struggle he was having was shown perfectly. No dialogue was needed to convey what he was going through in that moment. It's my favorite scene from the OT. That edit has ruined it for the most part.

This... one of the most powerful scenes in the OT was ruined. It was perfect the way it was. Him just walking over coupled with the music playing was fantastic.

Also, someone mentioned the original look of the Tie Fighters. What did the black squares look like? I guess I've never seen that before?

Maybe this will finally help people see the classic editions are not some holy grail. We are talking about 2-5 minutes of extra footage/audio per film if that.

Exactly. A bunch of kids here.

I saw the thing when I was 8 - about 10 times. The special effects are much better now. Much better sound, etc. Everything.

Geez.

Seeing how he melted over the force awakens, this news may send George Lucas to the hospital

It's a completely different movie. My biggest gripe is that they really went insane on the wipes. Totally butchered movies

So how come they make Han into a weird robot twice, they add a horrible and out of place musical number, and they still have Leia kiss her brother twice?

What the frick George?

If they release these original and unedited to theaters I'll live in those theaters for a couple weeks.
