parks and rec is not better. It's the office but with women playing men and vise versa

they even keep the same characters but switch the roles

Brendanawicz was intended to be the Jim for Parks and Rec but he left after season 1. I guess Ben became their straight man in season 3.

Ron was libertarian, Dwight was authoritarian. Dwight was a suck up and backstabber, no way the two get along with Ron's moral code.

I like to think of it as Dwight is very reverent towards the Schrute family and its history . . . and his family happened to be Nazis

Parks and Rec is not The Office good but it’s in the ballpark

The Office was better at its peak but Parks and Rec was more consistently funny throughout its run. The Office took a steady decline starting around Season 6.

As for the original question, I think initially Ron would enjoy Dwight's straightforwardness but ultimately become annoyed with his antics.

Dwight works for a private company while Ron works for the government. That's a key point in Dwight's desire to work hard and be productive. If he did work for Ron, they'd probably mesh well in that they'd agree that department is useless.

I think the office was pretty consistently good until the last few seasons. Parks and Rec first season was pretty weak. So each had it's slump. The Office is probably overall better. But I like some of the characters in P&R better....Andy, Ron, April, etc..

I thought his family wasn't exactly Nazis, but more Nazi sympathizers..? I saw an episode last week that said something of that sort, where Dwight referred to his uncle or something like that, and said that he was a _______ (can't remember the term he used, but it wasn't a straight up Nazi).

Am I misremembering that?

This is my line of thinking. P&R truly only had 1 down season that being the first, but it was only 6 episodes and having a rocky first season isn't all together uncommon. 2-7 were gold. The Office probably had some higher highs (barely), but had MUCH lower lows. There were some terrible episodes/seasons towards the end of the run which you never had with P&R.

I also thought that towards the end Office introduced some crap characters, whereas the only recurring character in P&R I didn't care for was the shouting gay guy towards the end, who was beyond awful.

I would say the Office is the better overall show, but not by a ton.

A couple of drinks? Yeah, I could see them getting along. Beyond that, however, I believe Dwight would grate on Ron's nerves. Ron had very low tolerance for bullshite and time wasting (outside of work).

See, I don't think it's close. Admittedly, I have not finished P&R yet. I watched it for a good while, but got very bored with it. I think I am in early season 5. I enjoy the show well enough, but don't particularly like it, if that makes sense. I also dislike most of the characters (to stay true to the thread title, not Ron...he's great).

Also, I found what I was talking about above with Dwight's family. The Bund ( Wiki link ).

Dwight hates tons of things about Angela though. Cats, for one, which Angela worships.

Its not close. Ron Swanson is an all time great character, but The Office has like 4 of those and better writing.

He tried to visit his great-uncle Manheim down in Argentina but his visa was protested by the Shoah foundation.
Shoah Foundation deals with the remembrance of the Holocaust.

Ron would like Dwight for half a day then hate him.
