I liked the use of Pink Floyd during the trailer but I have absolutely no idea what it is about.

Is this supposed to be an accomplishment? Being a better film than Black Panther?

I don't care who the director is, Cuaron, Inurritu, etc., as long as Lubezki is shooting it, I'll watch it.

How the else could anyone get through those last few Malick flicks??

Just watched it on Netflix...pretty amazing work of art. Will have to watch again to enjoy the cinematography as I had to read the subtitles the first time around..

Cuarón ended up shooting it because Lubezki had scheduling issues

Roma will win for Foreign Language Film but I doubt it wins for any other major award.

Netflix hates the idea of releasing a film exclusively in the theaters first. They usually insist on a simultaneous streaming release.

watched this yesterday

Cinematography is excellent and that's an understatement. Sure there are long takes but the shot framing and the way the camera is used to tell the story are truly great.

It's more or less plotless though not entirely. It does such a great job of showing how important Cleo is to the family but there are several instances where her status as part of the underclass is reinforced.

There are a couple scenes that are just heartbreaking but I'd say that the overall film is uplifting

I can see why it’s an Oscar favorite. Like Moonlight, it’s a gritty look into reality with a cast that doesn’t seem to be acting. All of the other nominees have some amount of Hollywood veneer on them, even The Favourite. This is the kind of film The Academy drools over.

And I really enjoyed it. Beautifully shot and edited, heart wrenching moments, real drama. Wish I’d seen it in the theater.
