Oh look a comedy snob

Just because you didnt enjoy it, doesnt mean there isnt comedic value to it and doesnt mean others cant like it

I thought he was funny and im sticking too it

Im not saying its snobby to not find him funny. Its snooby to think just because you dont find him funny, that it is ridiculous for someone else to find it funny

I am not a comic snob.

My favorite comedies are Airplane, Blazing Saddles, Dumb and Dumber, Lebowski, etc. Not sure if that helps give you a better idea of what my comedy taste is.

I just think in order for comedy to even be considered comedy, it should have more to it than someone having a potty mouth that normally doesn't. I think it should be at least a LITTLE witty and have some thought behind it (and/or great timing).

I will say this, which will sound snobby, I have never met anyone remotely intelligent above the age of 12 who thinks Tom Cruise is funny in Tropic Thunder. Just an observation.

I never said it was ridiculous. I just said I think it's not funny at all.

Sooo according to you:

I also dont get the ronnie hate. He was hilarious IMO

Because it's compeltely overdone. And I don't hate him in it, it just got old really fast for me.

Young black kid that cusses and says irreverant shite. Okay, that could be funny. But then they make every damn thing he says so over the top crass and ridiculous that it's just not believable. Like the scene in the room where he meets Wheeler and he starts yelling shite like "Mothafricka over here trying to grab my hang low and get a handfull of my balls.." It's just trying to shock and be funny instead of actually being funny.

Still a great flick though, just that Ronnie is one of the worst parts of it.

FWIW, I hated him in that movie (and was disappointed in the movie altogether), but Cruise in Tropic Thunder gets TONS of love on this board.

You didnt use those words but you implied it by using a dumbed down impression of someone who laughed at Ronnies lines as if you have to be down right stupid to laugh at ronnie in this movie. That is snobby

Whatever, frick it. I'm a comedy snob.

I'm also a golf snob and intelligence snob. I hate stupid people and shitty golf courses as much as I hate dumb, shock value comedy.

I'm ok with that I think.

Thing is I love almost all movies, even the bad ones. So I am the opposite of a movie snob.

yep.

Duane: We are gonna make s'mores with white chocolate.
Martin Gary: Oh-ho, I don't know if I agree with that.

Martin Gary: You know, a lot of people don't realize that bushes, just like flowers, emit a wonderful aroma especially at night. Who wants to sniff this bush?

Rudd's scene with the LARPers in the restaurant was great.

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt this restaurant the same as the BMFer wallet scene b/t Jules and Ringo in Pulp Fiction?

I understand the thoughts on Cruise, but I'm indifferent on that character. I use "A nutless monkey can do your job, seriously." all the time at work, but other than that. Spot on.

Negative. The pulp fiction place has been torn down and replace with an auto parts store.

Ken Jeong rubbing his finger on Rudd's nose gets me every time as well.

I thought Cruise was funny in Tropic Thunder. Which I think is a funny movie. I've only seen it once and somehow I missed the fact that the fat guy was Tom Cruise and figured it out about halfway through.

I totally agree with you about Ronnie. A few snaps here and there are funny, but overall, he was much more annoying than the larper who you started empathizing with very quickly.
