I was under the impression this movie takes place in the days leading up to Episode 4 and at that time, Obi Wan and Yoda were the last remaining Jedi.

Someone said it would be cool if they did a Back to the Future II scene on the Death Star showing the Rogue One characters on the station when Luke, Leia, and Han are plotting their escape.

Obi Wan is alive and only like 60 years old during this movie
This is correct. However, it is not clear who knows he is still alive. He was a very popular Jedi in the galaxy and they could have built that statue to honor his sacrifices especially if they think he is dead.

That would be cool. But my guess the movie ends with some sort of hand off to Leia as she escapes in her ship towards Alderean.

Won't happen but it would be cool to do a check in on what everyone is doing during this timeframe such as Obi Wan and Yoda

This is immediately before Episode IV right? They're probably just as we saw them there.

Yoda is entertaining himself in solitude in a swamp down in Degoba.
Obi-Wan is either training Luke or living also in solitude a few miles from Luke's foster family.

Just being creepy, peeping into their windows. "Use the paprika, Luke"
"Who said that?"

But I'm guessing everyone in this movie dies at the end since Leia is the only one left to smuggle the plans.

I think we will see the team somehow send a coded message with the plans included. The final scene of the movie may be aboard Tantive IV, with a comms officer telling Capt Antilles that they have received the message(s) and asking if they should alert the princess.

Heard someone say that the best possible ending would be a space battle where Rouge One sacrifices itself so that Leia's ship can make a break for it.
I tend to agree

Luke hasn't met Ben yet at the end of Rogue 1. He will soon, though!

The shot of Vader at the end took me right the frick back to being 7 years old and seeing him walk in for the first time in the original.
Goddamn that's awesome

We all want more Vader. We want killer bad arse Vader wrecking shite for a whole movie. We will never get the real Vader. Why!
Merchandizing revenue. Right now, he is just the cool to dress up like bad guy. Turn him into the murdering psychopath that we all want and Vader costumes and masks no longer grace the Walmart and Target shelves. He is the lovable bad guy because mamas don't really know how crazy and sinister that MFer really is.

How the hell did the Death Star go undiscovered for 18 years? It is seen in Episode III. Are you telling me no ship ever flew by it?
