Pretty sure this movie won us the Cold War. Probably the most “fun” movie of the series. I love it but I didn’t realize the RT score was like 40%. The audience score is a much more favorable 80%. What’s the board think?

Taxi:

TONY: Have you seen Rocky III? I loved Rocky II but I think Rocky III may be the best Rocky since Rocky I.

ALEX: How can you tell the difference?

TONY: They're numbered!

Possibly the greatest of the 80s training montage movies.
Incredible soundtrack.

And yes, Rocky won the Cold War.

Certainly the most American movie ever made. All those Soviet Russians cheering for Rocky at the end?

I doubt Reagan himself would conceive of such an ending.

In the warrior's code

There's no surrender

Though his body says stop

His spirit cries
, never!

A movie that could've been done in 30 minutes if not for three separate music montages

Dolph spoke less than 30 words in the whole movie but they all were memorable.

No doubt. Rocky’s speech about change really moved Gorbachev. That’s where it all started.

Some R4 facts: The Drago-Creed fight was filmed at Jubilee Theater at what is now Bally’s in Las Vegas. A lot of Rocky’s training in Russia was filmed in Jackson Hole around Mormon Row.

It’s the perfect movie that capitulates that time period

It’s 85 minutes all action, 2 training montages, and a perfect soundtrack

Stallone did an interview where he said he almost died training for it. He said he was eating 1 can of tuna a day while working out 3 hours and drinking 5 cups of coffee to stay awake and feed off hunger. All while he was on roids

Said he passed out once and a super high heart rate

Said he got down to 4% body fat. Lol

All that and Dolph still almost killed him with one punch during filming.

quote:

Hey I got an idea, for the first 45 seconds, really try to knock me out, I mean go for it," Stallone explains. "Bad idea. He comes across—boom, boom! He catches me in the chest. Woah. Cut, cut cut, I am directing so I can do that. CUT CUT. He says, 'What?' I said, 'What? I thought I had a car accident!

"Later that night my blood pressure goes up to 260, I go to hospital, they put me in an emergency jet and fly me back to America. Next thing I know I’m in intensive care for five days with nuns walking around." Stallone went on to say that the insurance company would not pay out until after they saw the footage of the incident. Once they did, they wrote the check. “He hit my heart so hard that it banged against my ribs and started to swell, and that usually happens in car accidents. So I was hit by a truck!”
