Could be good

quote:

The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine. The intention of the film is to capture Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.

Kubrick had been working on a Napoleon movie since the 70s but never got around to it. He did about two years of research for it after 2001. I wonder if Ridley saw any of his work.

Kubrick was the first person I thought of when I read the headline. HBO was supposed to have Cary Fukinaga helm a Napoleon project, but I guess it fell through. They were using all of Kubrick's research and continuing his project.

Ridley knew Kubrick I believe. I would hope they use his years of work and use Leon Vitale as a resource. It could be incredible.

Napoleon is basically the greatest undeveloped film project in modern cinema history.

I hope it doesn't turn into a CGI fest.

Like many other things, this seems to be more suited for an HBO miniseries at the least.

I wish Kubrick had done his Napoleon.

But I guess this will have to do.

But I don't know.

I guess the whole time watching a Ridley Scott film on Napoleon I'd just be thinking...god, what Kubrick could've done.

Pre or post-2005 Ridley Scott? Because it feels like two different people.
