Ride of the Rohirrim, then the charge on the Haradrim in ROTK is GOAT

There are many other battle scenes that are incredible but they don’t elicit they’ll same feelings of awe.
DDay in SPR is one that comes to mind, but you aren’t sitting there giddy and amazed because it’s our grandfathers getting killed. You’re wincing at how awful it is.
Opening battle of Gladiator isn’t this long, Star Wars battles are intermittent. Nothing else is this enduring to me than these two sequences of battle action that leave you amazed.
You have the chill bump inducing charge of the Rohirrim into the foes of Mordor. Then maybe a few mins of Pippen and Gandalf saving Faramir then you’re back at it.
The Rohirrim have to lineup and charge the Haradrim. If you have a surround sound system, the sound effects when the music stops and that first Mumakil swings his tusks is just unbelievable. I find myself with my mouth open after a 100 times of seeing it. It’s simply untouchable for 20 mins of cinema if you ask me.

Here is the best YouTube version there is.
It’s a mix of an audiobook reading, mixed with audio from the movie, with a music score.
It’s one of my favorite paragraphs in all of literature.

The entire Battle of the Pellenor Fields section of RotK is some of the most incredible writing in the English language. That was really the point at which Tolkien moved from writing a fantasy story to writing a true epic, in both tone and scope.

Proud member of the Alt Rohirrim here, I'm plowing through the extended versions of TLOTR series, as part of my usual Christmas time routine.
Never ceases to amaze me how incredible, yet not perfect, this trilogy is.
(This is all wrong. We shouldn't even be here! - Sam, after Faramir has taken them to Osgiliath.
A bit of self-awareness by the writers?

Chokes me up every time. The imagery, that moment, and the serendipity of those words meeting that score 48 years apart. Awe inspiring is really the only way to describe it.

That’s awesome. Maybe might be a little dusty in here.

I remember laughing out loud in the theater at this, along with a few other Tolkien nerds in the theater.

Death!
Death!
DEATH!
Easily one of the greatest scenes in movie and literature history. Beautifully scripted and moving literature, and Peter Jackson did a fantastic job of directing and filming the vision interpreted from Tolkien’s work. It’s the crown jewel of a fantastic work for both Tolkien and Jackson
Theoden’s acting and delivery is also perfect

What version of audio book is that? I would love to listen to the whole production? I j
Finished the Simirrillian recently.
Charge of the Rohirrim is the best scene in the Jackson movies. Theoden’s redemption in that scene was great.
