I thought it sucked.
Made no sense, wasn't funny, animation style seems off, voice actors do a swell job

I'm a big enough Rick and Morty fan that yesterday, during one of the kids' birthday parties, me and the guys went down to the bar in the basement, fixed some Jack and Cokes, and busted our guts laughing together at a few random episodes on Max.
None of us had any desire to check this out, at all.

Who asked for this? I'm a big anime fan and I am a Rock and Morty fan. Their anime shorts were entertaining in small doses but I have zero interest to watch a full season of it.

I tried, couldn't make it past 10 minutes. Wanted to like it, but it just felt off.

I was wondering if they play the anime angle for laughs like when South Park or Futurama did it

I don't think so. I think it is written and directed by Takashi Sano.
I tried and made about 15 minutes and just turned it off. It's awful.
