How should shows with lackluster finales like Dexter, The Sopranos and Seinfeld have ended? How about No Country For Old Men? Return of the Jedi?

Just curious as to how you would have sent your favorite characters into the sunset.

Dexter

Dexter should gotten found out by authorities, faked his death, and ended up in another town doing what he does. Last scene should have been him "hunting" with him saying, "tonight is the night, and its going to happen again and again."

Seinfeld, Sopranos and No Country for Old Men were not bad endings. Sorry you didn't "get" them.

"Got them" just fine. Doesn't mean they didn't suck. The Sopranos ending was a copout and Seinfeld was a reunion/recap show of the entire series.

Well I don't see you throwing out any genius suggestions for all these "sucky" endings.

lackluster finales like..Seinfeld

I am a diehard seinfeld fan and I think the ending was perfect. I mean, what else would you want?

The very last scene of the show they're having the exact same conversation as the openign scene in the pilot.

George: Haven't we had this conversation before?

Jerry: You think?

George: I think we have.

Jerry: Yeah, maybe we have.

That in a nutshell IS seinfeld. In addition to that picture perfect ending, we got callbacks from all our favorite characters throughout the show.

Let's face it...Seinfeld when it decided to call it quits was on top of the universe, it'd basically be impossible to have a finale that was universally loved.

SEINFELD - They actually go to LA and get ready to film the pilot. The first scene of the pilot ( and thus the last scene of the series) is Jerry and George in the diner discussing the button.

SONS of ANARCHY - JAX takes his kids and disappears. Fast forward several years, you see his boys in HS, JAX is teaching auto-mechanics at a local trade school, and is dating a normal chick.

I could go on and on....but yes, I like happy endings

I hated the finale of Seinfeld because it felt like the one thing they said they would never do: a special episode. It was a glorified clip show, as an excuse to trot out all of the fan favorites to take a final bow.

How about the writers' original idea for the ending for Dexter? Last episode, Dexter is caught by the authorities. The camera pans back and he's strapped to a table about to receive a lethal injection. Turn a out, the entire series was a flashback before his death.

tony saprono's son would have been a badass instead of a pussy and he'd have continued on with the group as it's leader. I'd still be watching it today.

They made 2 "special episodes" when they did clip shows for the highlights.

I wouldn't call those "real" episodes though. I mean those were actual, legit, 100% clip shows that had about 30 seconds of Jerry speaking throughout the show. I wouldn't call that an actual "episode".

I agree. I'm just addressing the statement that they did "the one thing they said they would never do" by making a gloried clip show.

I just wanted Jules and Vincent to blast Ringo and Honey Bunny. Is that too much to ask?

Dexter should have ended with him dead and Deb walking up on Harrison murdering a few small animals. Cycle is complete, Deb is Harry, Harrison is Dexter. Infinitely times greater than the shite show we had to witness.

Really liked Cold Mountain. How about Emmett doesn't die at the very fricking end? Like depression and sadness, hold out hope through all the terrible happenings throught the movie and the good guy actually gets rewarded by more than one fricking of a prime Nicole Kidman.

Breaking Bad -

I would've had Walt at least tell Jesse some way that he cared for him

Show Jesse months later (full on beard) in a beautiful small Alaska town sanding a wooden chair in a shop he runs *fade to black*

Sons of Anarchy- Instead of Jax riding into the truck to end it all, he swerves to the side of the truck (it has to be a gas tanker) and shoots the tank causing it to explode and block the cops from chasing him and Jax rides off into the sunset.

Leaves it open for a return season so we can find out Tig & the transvestite got married.

Return of the Jedi?

Where to start?

1) Han is killed
2) Boba Fett doesn't go out like a punk (Granted this would have nothing to do with the end)
3) Leia is not Luke's sister
4) The Ewoks are replaced entirely by Wookies
5) No second Death Star (lazy plot device)
6) No crappy party at the end
7) Luke walks off into a binary sunset to reestablish the Jedi Order

I've heard that Lucas toyed with the idea of having Luke turn to the dark side. That certainly would have made for a better ending also, IMO.
