I honestly thought that's what this thread was about.

I throw in Oldboy, Gladiator, Taken, and the Crow.

Law Abiding Citizen is not a great movie, but it's straight up revenge and so fits perfectly in this.

The correct answer is "The Count of Monte Cristo."

The Gift with Jason Bateman and Joel Edgerton was pretty decent. The Count of Monte Cristo was a classic revenge story. There is a black and white movie called The Heiress from 1949 that's one of the best examples of someone waiting years to get revenge on a past lover who hurt them.

Oldboy, the original, is the best revenge movie I have seen

It is a great movie, but the revenge happens really early in the movie when he kills Val. After that he just wanted his $70,000.

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse could be the GOAT if it were to ever finally be made.

Oldboy is the best, imo, but all 3 are really good
