I don't think people are nitpicking, necessarily; they just don't look aesthetically pleasing -- they're ugly to look at, and you will be watching them for two hours. Twist that however you want.

John c Reilly is ugly as frick but I still like him in movies. It shouldn't matter what their nose looks like if it's a good movie.

It's more than just not being aesthetically pleasing..it's completely changing the appearance of the characters. Like to an incredibly noticable degree.
