I interviewed Dustin for the newspaper I'm a reporter for ... He wouldn't say about that, but he did tell me that his friends and family didn't know exactly what he was doing in LA when he left Rayne. If they didn't even know, it seems unlikely that it was as easy as googling his name, so the leak theory isn't band, imho.
