The problem with Thor was that his first movie was above average, not great, but had a hard time connecting him to casual fans.
Dark World was horrid.
Ragnarok was at least fun, but I also agree they made Thor a bit TOO goofy. It's okay for him to have some fun, but I think they could have toned it down a bit and still had fun with it.
Ragnarok's biggest sin, though, was convincing the powers that be that Taika should have total control over the next film.
