Re-watched The Martian
didnt set out to do it but i wound up rewatching the martian again last night. one thing i had forgotten about that makes little sense (in addition to the sand storm & wasting the A4 MAV and the millions (BIllions?) of $ that it cost) was the hermes crew blowing out an airlock to slow down...it worked to do that, but are we to believe this explosion in space by a homemade bomb caused no meaningful damage to this highly complex and highly fragile ship, other than the gas venting, and they are not only good to go to get home, but that NASA is OK with them trashing what is undoubtedly the most expensive piece of equipment in the history of the world to that point? for matt damon?

yet there i was, edge of my seat, as always.
what a fun movie thats just smart enough to not be ridiculous

The Martian > Interstellar
I think the 2 sides of the same great coin - with Damon as the unifying factor.

Interstellar is the more existential and philosophical, while The Martian is the more technical.

My favorite scene is the end when he is sitting in the park and the current crop of students out running drop to a walk out of extreme reverence for him. I think that's realistic. He would be by far the most famous person in the world.
