Been watching a bunch lately, they're great to fall asleep to. While also some of the best historical documentaries in the game, imo

1. Civil War (the undisputed champio)
2. Baseball
3. Vietnam
4. Dust Bowl
5. Roosevelts (would be higher if it just covered Teddy, not FDR or Eloleanor)

Civil War will always be #1

Really? I thought including FDR and Eleanor elevated the doc in a HUGE way. Same last names but different experiences.

The West is pretty solid. It's on Netflix. It's about Americans settling the west and Indians.

I've been burning through his lesser docs lately.

I highly recommend his Jack Johnson two-parter. Mark Twain was good too.

Re-watching the Roosevelts right now.

2. Baseball

Baseball is an embarrassment for how it wrongly portrayed Ty Cobb

What's the best way to watch these? I tried the PBS app on my FireTV and was unsuccessful.

Do I have to just buy them digitally via Amazon?

Netflix has some like Civil War, WW2, The West, The Roosevelts, and Prohibition.

Amazon Prime has some of his older, shorter docus from the 80s, like Huey Long. Prime also has National Parks, Baseball, The Dust Bowl, and Jazz.

The Jack Johnson one was awesome. My favorite of those shorter "American Lives" docs are those two and the Frank Lloyd Wright one.

1. National Parks - America's Best Idea (thought that was just sublime and extremely interesting/informative) - plus I love the National Parks.

Jazz easily.

Maybe I'm biased because I worked for 15 years in the French Quarter, but I was fascinated over it's humble origins, its viral spread across the world, its reign as sonic king for decades until RnR arrived, then to watch its evolution from dance joints to subdued lounges.

If you have a drinking game where you take a shot every time he invokes white guilt you will get very drunk very quick.

lol

The Baseball doc is pretty awesome, but he literally only discusses 2 things the whole time: 1) New York City 2) black people

With a spare 5 minutes here and there of "oh yeah and like the Cardinals were good". And back to New York and black people.

This is great too.

Probably the only Ken Burns doc I didn't like was Prohibition. Felt weak.
