Isn't she Vietnamese?

Not sure how the Chinese feel but the Vietnamese have no love loss for China throughout history.

That too. Chinese people can probably tell she’s not Chinese. I don’t know how, but Asians can tell each other apart. So China is supposed to get excited about a pudgy Vietnamese chick with a total American accent falling in love with a black guy?

if i’ve learned anything about this whole ideal from Star Wars fanboys, it’s that if a minority character sucks, he/she was just added to pander to the audience, but if a white character sucks, his/her character just sucks

I think if there was some diversity in the First Order, people would complain less. It is pretty noticeable how all the bad guys are white.

I’ve watched movies that portrayed/Creole mixed raced people as white and movies where blacks were whitewashed out of them altogether. I didn’t protest or whine. You guys have been running things since this country began. What is wrong with sharing the spotlight with other peoples? If aliens came here tomorrow I doubt if race or sex would be an issue to them. Let the women have their day. You are probably related to some.

Meaning they (Luke, Leia, Kylo) hold all the stake in the story. Imagine if the roles were switched and instead of Luke being viewed as the J

Then why did Rose fall in love and kiss Finn?

The scenes of Rose zapping, manhandling and insulting Finn are designed to get huge laughs from Asian audiences, who will most likely never see any kiss between Rose and Finn

The Rose character didn't bother me as much as she did others, but you're stupid if you don't know that the Eastern market is the motivation for a lot of choices made in movies today.

And you're willfully ignorant if you didn't notice Disney downsizing the image of Finn on the TFA poster that hit the East.

You think that part will be edited out of the Asian version? That’d be pretty funny and yet liberals will never accuse the Chinese of being racist.

People aren't aware of the things that happen to movies when they reach that market. Finn being downsized on the poster is just one small example. Notice how there wasn't an international SJW incident when it was pointed out, though.

BTW, the Vietnamese woman who bought out and now runs my mother's old company didn't know that Rose was Vietnamese, so the whole "they can recognize each other" thing is bullshite. It's all the same continent. Sure, there are people who you can say almost certainly come from certain regions, but they've been mixing it up over there for 40,000 years.

Also a major thing the Chinese prefer...they don't like "ghosts" in their movies.

This is the entire reason Yoda wasn't just a mostly transparent ghost like the OG like this:

Instead Yoda at best had a blue aura around him, was clearly not really even transparent at all, and then I guess him actually making contact with Luke makes it official he's not a "ghost". But the whole scene was contrived so as to not offend the Chinese market.

Everything else up to that point says they end up as force ghosts...

While Hollywood has indeed become more sensitive to the Chinese market, I would take your theory more seriously if they had cast a Chinese actress in the role, but the actress is Vietnamese. But the motivation behind casting this character is something that I wonder about. I just saw the movie tonight, and when I saw that Rose was going to be more than a background character, I thought why did they cast this nerdy chick? If this role was definitely going to an Asian, my first thought was that they should have hired Chloe Bennet, which is funny because she would have fit your theory better since she's actually known in China:

But I do kinda agree that the shirtless Ren and the kiss sorta detract from the girl-power vibes of the movie.

That’s the exact scenario women want. Old-school sexual mores were just as much about keeping women in line as they were about keeping men in line.

umm is there laws against minorities and women making movies?

The truth is, women and minorities write shitty movies. Harry Potter is basically all you have to hang your hat on. They have to latch onto movies and content written by some white or Jewish man.
