Who's been watching the new season? So far, there have been 4 new episodes:

1 "Romeo and Juliet and Juliet"
2 "Feet Don't Kill Me Now"
3 "Not Even Close... Encounters"
4 "Chivalry Is Not Dead... But Someone Is"

I've seen several episodes from season 4, all of season 1, and then sporadic episodes throughout the series (though I do own seasons 1-4, and just started season two), and I feel like this season is pretty solid so far. The references they make have me rolling, and Sean and Gus continue to play off each other really well. I'm not a huge fan of Henry being hired onto the police force, but that's just a minor gripe I guess.

Random: In the UFO episode, when Sean and Gus both realized that they each thought the aliens were real, and Sean goes "I'm gonna need a Speak'N'Spell and 7 pounds of mashed potatoes.." I damn near pissed myself laughing.

Yes, this season has been very solid. The 80's pop references just keep on rolling.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was really good in his guest stint.

I agree...I actually didn't hate him. That episode may be the best acting he's ever done.

And his wife in that one...holy shite. FYI, her name is Becky O'Donohue:

They seem to be changing up the formula some I guess to keep it from seeming to repetitive. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. I do like that they seem to have stepped up Lassiter's over the top Tackleberryness. Squirrelassassin.com

Whichever one it was (either the first or second episode), when Gus was at that place going on about racism...shite was hilarious.

Im glad you said that...reminded me of a question I had.

I noticed last week they didn't start the episode with a flashback to their childhood. Has that ever happened before?

I don't think it has. I guess Henry never talked to young Shawn about dating cougars or about lesbians.

I know. It's a good show regardless. I hope they don't wait too long.

Does Lassiter/the Chief/Corbin Bernsen still act as if they haven't solved 75 crimes that the police themselves weren't able to solve?

I think they all have trouble taking Shawn seriously because he is always joking around and making outrageous claims. Lassie is just jealous and Shawn's dad just wants him to stop making a fool out of himself.

Shawn is definitely a superior detective to Lassiter.

Making it all the more rational that the chief would continue to treat him how she does.

I've heard it both ways.
