Why would they hire Psych then?

Does Lassiter/the Chief/Corbin Bernsen still act as if they haven't solved 75 crimes that the police themselves weren't able to solve?

Short answer, no. If you stopped liking the show because they regularly disrespected and ignored the gifted kid that was smarter than everyone else, it's still like that.

Long answer, kind of.

Corbin Bernsen seems to be taking Sean more seriously now that he's his boss. He still talks down to him but now that his butt is on the line for their performance it's more in a coaching him up kind of way.

Lassiter has become even more of a caricature and I don't think he'll ever take Spencer seriously because of the jealousy, but he did recently ask Guster to help him out.

The Chief has had her role reduced significantly and when she is there she's usually not dealing with Sean and Gus directly because that's Corbin Bernsen's job now.

Whichever one it was (either the first or second episode), when Gus was at that place going on about racism...shite was hilarious.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but they pulled part of that joke on USA (at least on the re-air). I watched it online first, then caught it on TV and was like wtf?

Spoilers (if you haven't seen that episode)

In the online version, when Gus asks which water fountain he's allowed to use, the martial arts guy responds "That one."

When I saw it on USA later they just cut the scene after Gus asks which fountain he can use.

F-ing censorship

I noticed. That was Gus' best moment ever. It's not like the guy was actually being racist.

Well played. Hope you intended what I think and I'm not giving too much credit here

Season finale if at all this season would be my guess, unless it's a 2 parter. Even then they'd probably call it the finale.

I'm just saying there was no reason to censor the episode. The bit was hilarious!

Best Buy has Season 1 for $15, 3 for $20, and 4 for $32. I picked up seasons 1 and 3.

I like the coaching aspect of his character now and I can see where the show will ultimately end, with Shawn becoming a detective, with his dad's lead.

I don't think having his dad in an official capacity does much else for the show other than get in the way if Shawn's antics, though. I still like the Chief's character for that. She has to be on to Shawn's act IMO.

And Lassiter, his character has become the most campy on the show, followed closely by Juliet. It's time those characters evolved a little.

With that said, it's still my favorite show on television.

I heard the writers are supposed to wrap up the Yin/Yang storyline this season. I thought that there would have been some comment about it in the season premier.

I'm glad the cleaned up Juliet's appearance. In the first season her hair's all a mess and frizzy and her face is oily all the time. Not a good look.

If I remember correctly, the kid who plays Young Shawn is not credited in as many episodes as James Roday. More than one episode less is what I'm getting at.

Lassiter pulled a "I've heard it both ways". Awesome.

That was good. Not sure the others in the room caught on given the looks when I laughed at the line.
