Apparently this guy just tied Arnold for Mr. Olympia titles. Could he make a new Predator movie?? Maybe, just don't bring up his skin color.

AA's have a legit shot at some healing if they do this right.

Just as a personal note, I recently watched this with 13 year old son and he was absolutely blown away ! He had seen both Terminators and True Lies and knew who Awhnawld was, but seeing this movie was like a revelation to him. He asked “is that Apollo Creed, oh my god”!! He was totally enthralled and said it was one of the best movies he had ever seen. Of course he is 13 and said the same thing about Faceoff, Con Air, and basically any other movie I introduce him to, but it was still nice to see the movie still impacts a generation today.

Tied Arnold for third (7 each), although Heath did win 7 in a row.

Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman both have 8 (and both won 8 consecutively). And like Heath, Haney and Coleman are African American.

I quit following after Ronnie and Jay retired. Arnold had Franco. I don't even know Phil's competition.

They played it at the theatre here last year celebrating their 100th anniversary and were playing great movies from every decade and chose Predator for 80s of course. Took my wife who had never seen it and she liked it too which made me even happier

It was Kai Greene, early - basically Heath 1st, Cutler 2nd and Greene 3rd in 2011. Along with Greene, Dexter Jackson, German Dennis Wolf, Jamaican Shawn Rhoden and Egyptian Mamdouh "Big Ramy" Elssbiay have been most consistent during his 7 - typically 2 to 4 of these cats are in the top 5/top 7 (Elssbiay since 2014) with Phil.

Elssbiay looks to be the next Mr. Olympia based on trends, plus he's younger than that core group of the Heath era.

Why is Predator so good?

McTiernen is really the star of the show here. Yes, the casting is perfect, and no other man could pull off the Arnold role, but what makes Predator so lasting and so rewatchable, is Coincidentally the same reason another Arnold film, Conan the Barbarian, is also so lasting and so great

It's because two incredibly artistic and talented guys made those movies. What could have been just pulpy, bad stories were made at such a high level - technically, visually, and laid out. They took what some would consider a "lesser" genre and made them with such quality and passion that most Oscar type films had.

Just juxtapose these films with many of today's action/comic type films and you can see the emphasis on story and photography and feel over visual effects and snappy one-liners.

Just watch the above video for a breakdown of McTiernans camera work and direction.

Milius did the same with Conan. They're the two best testosterone filled masterpieces.

The best pop culture spinoff of Predator is for about 5 years every one of those zany opponent lookalike threads during football season would have the other guy's dreadlocks guy compared to Predator.

I tried to have my 15 year old watch Die Hard and he struggled to stay interested and wasn’t that crazy about it. I was surprised. He did seem to enjoy Apollo 13 though. I’m going to try Predator next.
