I haven't seen enough of 2015 to make a valid list.

Self-loathing probably isn't the term you meant.

I did drop in on another thread and read your take on how Star Wars(1977) had lines stretched across America to go see on initial release and your source was Google. It's difficult to take you seriously.

Actually I've read several stories about it, but if you don't believe me you can look it up yourself. It's out there. It's also irrelevant to this thread, so let's stop derailing it.

I don't need to look it up, I was there.

You're the worst kind of troll, you actually believe it. It's like me telling my Grandfather how WWII was because I've read about it. You already stated earlier nothing will sway your opinion on Ex Machina. Seems like a troll to me. Or you're just a rigid know it all, nothing.

So were my parents and my uncle. So were thousands of other people. Your point?

I've talked about it with other people before. So what? I have no intention of trying to convince people who enjoyed it that wasn't good. If you enjoyed it, good for you. I didn't it.

So a different opinion on something as subjective as movies means I'm a troll.

10. The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
09. Ex Machina
08. The Hateful Eight
07. Kingsman: The Secret Service
06. Inside Out
05. Creed
04. Mad Max: Fury Road
03. Bridge of Spies
02. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
01. The Martian

I give Ridley Scott a lot of crap on this message board but the man hit a home run with The Martian.

How is The Hateful Eight? How would you compare it to Tarantino's previous movies?

What you meant is you wanted the last word?

It's standard Tarantino. Over-the-top violence mixed with solid performances from actors who are shooting out witty dialogue. What I liked most about this film was the story. It was basically Clue set in the wild wild west.

I was disappointed in the Hateful 8 because I built it up too much in my head. If I were to watch it on its own, not knowing anything about it or the director, I would have been satisfied. Knowing it was Tarantino, I was expecting much more. It has one really great scene, but I thought the movie and storyline were a little subpar for Tarantino. I'd probably rate it around #5 of his movies. Liked it better than Jackie brown, Deathproof, etc.

It Follows (It was the only original movie out there)

Ex Machina and Inside Out are pretty original. . .

I guess it's the debate over whether you enjoy movies simply for visuals...or whether you enjoy movies because they are a film version of books - storytelling.
There's some damn good storytelling in a lot of the movies this year.

I still havent seen a number of movies yet, but my top 5 would look something like this

1.Sicario
2.Dope
3.It Follows
4.Creed
5.Chappie

Ex Machina, The Force Awakens, Southpaw, The Reveant, and Hateful Eight would be somewhere behind those five.

Ill probably get to Room, Spotlight, and Legend this week.

Agreed. And anyone who doesn't have Sicario somewhere on their list must not have seen it yet

Just ignore GamecockAlum/Durantula/Man Of Steel/etc. He always manages to out himself within a week or two of creating a new alter. It's hilarious how he just can't help himself ever.

The only thing I will say about this thread is that I do agree a bit with Mad Max being MASSIVELY overhyped. It was a solid, enjoyable movie. But all the "best action movie in a decade" hype was way overblown. The action was pretty cool, some of the effects were cool, and some of the shots were nice to look at, but the story and acting were borderline awful. All in all, just a solid action movie and that's about it IMO...I liked it, but the hype machine needs to pump the brakes a bit.

I justdon't feel like I can make a list yet. I haven't seen Creed, Sicario, Spotlight, etc. I'm trying to use the slow winter tv season to catch up.

Question: did you read the Martian before seeing it? I'm not trolling, I haven't seen the movie yet. But I read the book in about a day and a half. I couldn't put it down. Several friends that saw it said it was a little disappointing.

Also, I really don't know how anyone could not enjoy Ex Machina. What a great movie.
